At Star Construction as a Telecom Manager, you'll be responsible for organizing, directing, and supervising construction activities for a specific area including subcontractor compliance and project safety/controls. The Telecom Manager coordinates construction scheduling and communication and acts as a liaison to others within Star Construction concerning production, subcontracting, progress and delays.

What you'll do
  • Responsible for a defined area/region of operation set forth by the direct manager and will be in charge for daily production including superintendents, supervisors, foreman and crews reporting to the supervisors.
  • Assists with all employee development within their designated area of operations to include employee growth and performance planning.
  • Ensuring customer requests and problems are handled in a professional and timely manner and within the proper guidelines
  • Vendor Management with all vendors is ethical and built on good business values and relationships.
  • Processing of all material vendors and sub-contractor agreements within the area with final approval of the Sr Manager Telecom and Vice President of Operations and President if required. All pricing within the contract agreements will be approved in advance of starting a project. Advanced approval will include the bidding and pricing training received by the Sr Manager Telecom.
  • Assists with employee hiring, coaching, onboarding, disciplining and termination as needed.
  • Manages major suppliers of material and sub-contract services bi-annually for evaluation purposes.
  • Enforces the contract agreements and company policy when dealing with all sub-contractors (See Sub-Contractor agreements).
  • Works with other departments within Star Construction to accomplish goals and ensure business continuity.
  • Other managerial related tasks as assigned by direct manager

  • To be 18 years of age or older
  • Authorization to work in the United States for this company
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Must be able to pass a background check and company drug screening.
  • Must be able to attend and pass all company required training as needed.
  • May be required to work after hours; on weekends or be on-call as work is needed.
  • Regular and timely attendance is an essential function of this position.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills with both internal and external customers.

Additional qualifications
  • You have an MVR record that is deemed acceptable by the company
  • You are able to work over-time; after hours; on weekends; and for emergencies or on-call
  • You are proficient with general computer knowledge; and knowledge in Microsoft Office
  • Mathematical skills
  • Proven leadership in a cross functional team environment.
  • Strong negotiator and consensus builder.
  • Commitment to technology-driven process improvement.
  • Proficient word processing, spreadsheet, database, internet and cloud-based computer skills are required. Working knowledge of Google suite of applications strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor's Degree in an industry-related Engineering or Project Management field and 3 - 5 years of hands-on Telecommunications industry-specific experience, or combination of education and experience is a plus
  • Ability to read, understand and interpret documents such as safety rules and requirements, machine manuals of operation and process procedures. Ability to write information including reports. Ability to speak effectively to customers, vendors and coworkers up through all levels of management and staff. Ability to speak effectively and clearly with the public and external customers.

Physical abilities & exposures
Routinely: stand, crouch, sit, bend, use hands and fingers to handle or feel as well as reaching with hands and arms to spaces both high and low. The employee will be standing, walking, climbing, balancing, crawling, crouching, lifting, holding or stooping while on shift. May be exposed to dust, fumes or other airborne pathogens, outside weather conditions which can include but is not limited to: extreme heat and cold temperatures; inclement weather such as rain, snow, sleet and dust as well as adverse driving conditions including wet roads, icy roads, and fog
Occasionally: lift up to 100 lbs as needed with or without assistance, long driving and sitting
