Job description

Job Summary:

Cal-Ore Telephone Co. is seeking qualified and motivated candidates for the position of Fiber/Telecom Installer. This role involves both inside and outside plant installations and requires a strong working knowledge of telecommunications systems and infrastructure.


Location & Coverage Area:
This position reports to the Yreka, CA office and requires regular travel within the regional service area, including Weed, Mt. Shasta and surrounding communities.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Install and maintain copper and fiber service drops, ONTs, routers, DSL equipment, and radio equipment.
  • Configure and support customer premise equipment, including multi-line key systems and PBX systems.
  • Perform wiring and rewiring of new subscriber systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair switching equipment, voice frequency repeaters, loop extenders, and other telecommunications components.
  • Construct aerial and buried fiber drops and conduits as needed.
  • Run and manage fiber cross-connects at central office or remote locations.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in fiber and copper splicing.
  • Working knowledge of RUS (Rural Utilities Service) standards and practices.
  • Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) preferred.
  • Background in telecommunications construction is a strong plus.
