Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a night shift acute care hospital position requiring an active MI RN license and 2 years of MS/Tele experience.

Details
  • Med/Surg Telemetry unit within an acute care hospital
  • Adult to geriatric patient population with diagnoses including CHF, DM, Ortho, CP, Pneumonia, and COPD
  • Manages insulin and cardizem drips; no ventilator management
  • 1:5 patient ratio
  • 3x12 hour night shifts (1900-0730)
  • Every other weekend required, occasionally every third weekend
  • Open to block scheduling
  • No floating required at this time
  • Uses Pyxis and EPIC systems
Requirements
  • Active MI RN license required by start date (compact license not accepted)
  • Minimum 2 years of MS/Tele nursing experience required
  • 1 year of charge experience preferred
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required (AHA preferred)
  • Experience with IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, PICC line management, and starting/maintaining IVs
  • Experience with chest tubes (Emerson/PleurEvac), high flow nasal cannula, and ABG interpretation
  • Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation/management, and rapid response/code team activation
  • Experience with IV insulin protocols and insulin drip titration
  • Experience with wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE preferred
  • EPIC EMR experience preferred
Additional Information
  • Provide nursing care to adult and geriatric patients on a telemetry-monitored medical-surgical unit
  • EPIC training provided during orientation for those without prior experience
  • Hunter green scrubs required
  • Free parking available
  • Pre-start modules must be completed prior to assignment start
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Local candidates accepted at the same rate as travel candidates
  • Returning staff members must wait 12 months before rejoining and must be verified through HR
  • RTO requests limited to a 5-day maximum and must be submitted at time of consideration
