Job description


Position Title: Digital Services Lead Designer (Scaffolding & Allform™)
Position Reports To: VP, Engineering & Technical Services
Position Summary
The Digital Services Lead Designer uses various digital platforms to provide technical support during the planning phases of a project or turnaround / outage involving Scaffolding or Allform™. This position will also provide technical expertise and support engineering with the design and development of various structural components that will be manufactured and used for specific purposes.
Essential Functions
  • Capable of overseeing or performing Lidar scanning, production of a point cloud through to completion of a rendered working 3D model, for any specified project work scope
  • Works with customers during planning phases to build a 3D model, 2D shop drawing and submittal drawing following the project design drawings, blueprints, BIM model or Lidar scan
  • Conducts Building Information Modeling (BIM) for Scaffolding, Forming, Shoring or other specific structural items using Tekla, Revit or other systems.
  • Assists Operations and Customers in design reviews to evaluate design concepts and ensure constructability
  • Performs technical bid evaluations, reviews client specifications, and prepares the technical proposal documents.
  • Interfaces directly with Operations and Customers to determines appropriate materials and elements to build structures.
  • Updates and revises drawings when changes are made to engineering designs.
  • Conducts site visits and acts as technical field representative during project phase.
  • Perform QA on model deliverables to ensure it follows customer/technical requirements and meets safety requirements.
  • Works with team members to design, develop and manufacture structural components related to a product group or for a specific project requirement.
  • Develops CAD models for parts/products within structures using various software.
  • Other duties as needed

Education & Experience
  • Bachelor of Science degree including any of the following: Engineering, Construction Management, or Environmental & Safety
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Industrial Services or any Construction industries
  • Understanding of Lidar scanning and production of a working 3D project model
  • Ability to design scaffolding, forming or shoring in a 3D or 2D environment

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Proficiency with any of the following: AutoCAD, Revit, Tekla, Solidworks
  • Strong understanding of technical drawings and plans
  • Strong Proficiency with Microsoft Suite - Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • High degree of math and computer skills
  • Ability to design components, parts, and overall structures/project sites
  • Knowledge of Lidar scanning and production of working 3D project model
  • Strong attention to detail

Working Conditions/Physical Demands
  • Remaining in a stationary position, often standing, or sitting for prolonged periods.
  • Travel to project site visits to provide hands on technical support (5-10%)
  • Light to moderate work that includes moving objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Some adverse environmental conditions are expected that will require the use of personal protective equipment.
