They assist with various tasks on construction sites, such as carrying materials, cleaning up debris, and supporting skilled tradespeople. While they may have some restrictions on the types of equipment they can use and the hours they are allowed to work, they gain valuable hands-on experience and receive training under the supervision of experienced professionals. Being part of a union also means they benefit from collective bargaining agreements, which can include better wages, safety standards, and opportunities for career advancement.

Familiarity with hand and power tools, personal protective equipment (PPE), and OSHA safety standards is typically required, often gained through union-sponsored apprenticeship programs. Strong work ethic, teamwork, and effective communication skills help individuals excel in demanding construction environments. These abilities are essential for ensuring safety, productivity, and reliable performance on union worksites.
