Job description

At BBYO, we're motivated by our mission, inspiring us to reimagine work to make it fun, flexible, and fulfilling. We are looking for a passionate Regional Director and Teen Engagement Manager to join our team and make a difference in Seattle, WA. This position is a partnership between BBYO (75%) and the Stroum Jewish Community Center (SJCC) (25%), offering the opportunity to work across two dynamic organizations dedicated to strengthening Jewish teen life and community engagement in the Seattle area.
In this role, you will primarily serve as BBYO's Regional Director for the Evergreen Region, leading membership growth, teen leadership development, and regional programming, while also partnering with the SJCC to support teen engagement initiatives and community-based programs. This is a unique opportunity to bring expertise in event planning, teen mentorship, and project management to help grow and strengthen Jewish teen experiences in a vibrant community with a long history of BBYO influence.
SHAPING THE FUTURE FOR TEENS AND YOURSELF
As a BBYO Regional Director, your responsibilities will include:
  • Coaching and mentoring teens to implement annual calendar of high quality and fun programs at the chapter and regional level.
  • Managing the teen-led regional board and all regional initiatives, including two overnight conventions and other major regional events.
  • Ensuring, in partnership with the teens and staff, that region-wide programs are well promoted, compelling and safely executed.
  • Recruiting, training, supervising and building a strong community of volunteer advisors that work directly with local chapters.
  • Seeking out and cultivating relationships with parents, alumni and partners in the community to mobilize more people to grow and support BBYO.
  • Utilizing data to drive decisions in continuing to build a robust member recruitment process to expand the impact of BBYO in Evergreen Region.
  • Participating in organizational projects, teams, and summer programs as assigned to expand the movement and strengthen teen leadership.

As the SJCC teen engagement Manager, your responsibilities will include:
Coordination, event activation and facilitation of the following programs:
  • A community-wide teen film event at the SJCC
  • A community-wide Seattle J-Serve initiative
  • A regular series of teen service activities
  • Coordination and facilitation of two 2-weeks SJCC CIT sessions during the summer of 2027
  • Staffing select SJCC events as part of the Community Engagement team (i.e. shabbat dinners, holiday festivals, camp counselor programs during the school-year)

ESSENTIAL SKILLS FOR MAKING A LASTING IMPACT
Our team has an entrepreneurial spirit and a passion for innovation to drive positive change. Additionally, for Regional Directors, these skills are key to success:
  • Experience: 2-5 years of work experience
  • Education: A bachelor's degree or higher
  • Abilities: Experience with youth or teens is preferred.
  • Must reside in the Seattle Metro area and be willing and able to travel regularly within the region as well as to the office at the SJCC.
  • Ability to travel to organization-wide events such as International Convention, Staff Conference, and to staff a summer leadership program at a location in the U.S. for 2-3 weeks each summer.
  • Ability to work non-traditional hours (some nights and weekends) when teens are available
  • As a member of the SJCC administrative team, attendance at SJCC meetings and trainings is required
  • Unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. without holding a visa or sponsorship.
