Job description

At the Y, we're an association of like-minded people (staff, volunteers, and members), on the forefront of a movement to ensure that everyone -- especially children -- experience an equal opportunity to reach their full potential. In the course of a year, we provide more than 3,000 children, ages 6 weeks through Pre-K with high-quality literacy and STEAM-infused learning; give 58,000 youth and teens access to sports, aquatics, day and resident camps, teen leadership development programs, and employment opportunities; provide over 200,000 members with programs, services, and facilities to enjoy connection and maintain wellness regardless of age; and engage over 25,000 volunteers and donors from across Atlanta to share in the gift of supporting their communities.
NATURE AND SCOPE:
Under the direction of the Director of Teen Programs, The Y Teen Social Engagement Intern is part of the YMCA of Metro Atlanta's Social Media Internship Program, focused on amplifying youth voice through digital storytelling. Interns will create engaging content that highlights teen-led events, leadership stories, and wellness-focused programming. This internship is ideal for youth interested in media, marketing, and communications. This is a grant funded, stipend paid opportunity.
RESPONSIBILITIES (including, but not limited to):
  • Attend teen programs and events to capture content (photos, videos, quotes, interviews).
  • Create 3-4 quality social media posts per week, aligned with brand standards.
  • Draft captions, hashtags, and content descriptions.
  • Collaborate with intern team and participate in monthly editorial meetings.
  • Submit content to Lead Intern for review and feedback.
  • Support platform growth through timely, engaging, and relevant content.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with staff, YMCA members, volunteers and the public through.

REQUIRMENTS:
  • Currently enrolled in high school or equivalent
  • Must be at least 16 year or older
  • Must have reliable transportation to assigned locations for in person events
  • Interest in digital media, social impact, and creative storytelling
  • Willingness to attend programs/events and engage with peers and staff
  • Strong project management skills: highly skilled at planning, organizing, and supporting multiple projects, establishing priorities, and meeting tight deadlines on a weekly basis in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrate professionalism and always uphold digital media ethics
  • Pass the State of Georgia criminal background check and a drug screen test
  • Excellent attention to detail, follow-through, and execution on compliances
  • Strong computer proficiency with excellent command of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • High degree of human relation skills, i.e., ability to effectively communicate and manage information to peers, staff and volunteers
  • Exemplify YMCA ideals and leadership qualities

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
  • Experience with social platforms and basic content creation apps is a plus

ERGONOMIC REQUIREMENTS:
Normal internal office environment. Must be able to walk and stand for extended periods of time.
