CAD Designer

Multiple Location: Can be located at any of these locations Munhall (PA), Pittsburgh (PA), or Troy/Detroit (MI) or Bessemer, AL.

Required Skills
  • Vertex BD experience (Mandatory)

  • AutoCAD or Pro/ENGINEER (ProE)

  • Structural Engineering or Structural Design knowledge
  • BIM Modeling & Coordination
  • Light Gauge Steel (CFS) framing systems
  • Structural detailing and shop drawings
  • Building Information Modeling (BIM)
Responsibilities
  • Develop detailed 3D structural models using Autodesk Revit and Vertex BD.
  • Convert architectural BIM models into fabrication-ready manufacturing models.
  • Produce structural drawings, shop drawings, and BIM deliverables.
  • Generate wall, floor, and roof framing layouts using Vertex BD.
  • Perform structural calculations for gravity, lateral, and serviceability loads.
  • Coordinate with architects, MEP engineers, manufacturing teams, installers, and project managers.
  • Generate fabrication data, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and CSV files for automated roll-forming machinery.
  • Support digital fabrication and industrialized construction initiatives.
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable building codes and quality standards.
  • Participate in design reviews, BIM coordination meetings, and continuous process improvements.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor''s degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline with 1–3 years of experience
    OR
  • Associate/3-year CAD Design degree with 5–7 years of relevant experience.
  • 3–7 years of experience in structural engineering or structural design with a strong BIM focus.
  • Hands-on experience with Vertex BD (required).
  • Strong proficiency in Autodesk Revit.
  • Experience with CAD software such as AutoCAD or ProE.
  • Experience supporting projects from conceptual design through fabrication and manufacturing.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Cold-Formed Steel (CFS) framing systems.
  • Knowledge of SketchUp or FrameBuilder.
  • Experience with modular, panelized, off-site, or industrialized construction.
  • Experience in innovation-driven environments, product development, or digital transformation initiatives.
  • Ability to work effectively in fast-paced, collaborative, cross-functional teams.
