Job Title: CAD Technician

Location: Schenectady, NY
Job Type: Contract
Work Model: 100% On-Site
Schedule: Monday – Friday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (40 hours/week)


Job Summary

We are seeking a CAD Designer I to join our engineering team. In this role, you will create accurate and detailed 2D/3D models and technical drawings using CAD software based on engineering sketches, layouts, and project requirements. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates looking to grow their career in design and drafting within a collaborative engineering environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Create and modify CAD models and technical drawings based on engineering instructions.
  • Revise drawings and models as requested by engineers or project managers.
  • Ensure all drawings meet company drafting standards and quality requirements.
  • Apply standard drafting practices, including Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Collaborate with engineers and project teams to meet project deadlines.
  • Maintain accuracy and attention to detail while working under supervision.


Required Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree in Drafting, Engineering Technology, or a related field OR completion of a vocational/technical drafting program.
  • Experience using CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Creo, Inventor, or similar).
  • Basic knowledge of drafting standards and GD&T.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.


Preferred Skills

  • Experience creating engineering drawings and 3D models.
  • Ability to interpret engineering sketches and technical documentation.
  • Strong willingness to learn and grow in a fast-paced engineering environment.
