About the Team

TechSource is seeking an experienced Lean Six Sigma Black Belt professional to support process improvement and operational excellence initiatives for engineering and technical operations within a highly regulated DOE/NNSA environment. This role will provide mentorship and technical guidance to company personnel while supporting the implementation and refinement of Lean Six Sigma methodologies and best practices.

The selected candidate will work closely with engineering leadership and operational personnel to strengthen process maturity, improve organizational efficiency, and support continuous improvement initiatives across multiple projects and functional areas.

About this Role

The Process Improvement Engineer will serve as a technical mentor and advisor responsible for observing engineering and operational processes, coaching personnel on Lean Six Sigma methodologies, and supporting implementation of process improvement initiatives. This role will help drive operational effectiveness by strengthening personnel capabilities, monitoring improvement activities, and promoting continuous improvement principles throughout the organization.

The ideal candidate will bring strong Lean Six Sigma expertise, proven mentoring experience, and the ability to work effectively with technical teams in highly regulated operational environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Observe and evaluate engineering and operational processes to identify opportunities for improvement
  • Mentor company personnel on Lean Six Sigma methodologies, tools, and best practices
  • Monitor implementation and effectiveness of Lean Six Sigma initiatives and improvement activities
  • Support continuous improvement efforts across engineering and operational functions
  • Conduct kickoff meetings to assign mentees and establish project objectives and expectations
  • Analyze personnel application of Lean Six Sigma principles and provide coaching and feedback
  • Strengthen and refine personnel use of process improvement tools and techniques
  • Provide bi-weekly progress reports detailing implementation activities, performance improvements, and best practices
  • Collaborate with management and technical personnel to support operational excellence initiatives
  • Support development of sustainable process improvement strategies and organizational process maturity
  • Facilitate communication between subcontractor personnel and company leadership

Work Environment & Schedule Requirements

  • Work will be performed both onsite and remotely
  • Travel to Pantex may be required for training, Government Furnished Equipment (GFE) issuance, and project walk-down activities designated by the Responsible Manager
  • Travel is anticipated to be limited during the base performance period
  • Offsite work will include email correspondence, phone calls, and Microsoft Teams meetings
  • Planned work schedule is anticipated to be up to 25 hours per week
  • Total anticipated level of effort is approximately 600 hours during the project duration

Period of Performance

  • Initial assignment duration is six (6) months following contract award
  • An optional six (6) month extension period may be exercised at the discretion of the STR

Government Furnished Equipment (GFE) will be provided and may include:

  • Laptop computer and associated accessories
  • VPN access to the company's unclassified network
  • Microsoft Office suite
  • Minitab statistical analysis software
