Job description

Position Purpose
This position is responsible and accountable for managing the delivery of quality respiratory care services. Managers will be responsible for respiratory care services at either Renown Regional, Renown South Meadows Medical Center and/or Renown Rehab Hospital.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
• Planning, directing, and coordinating activities of the Respiratory Care staff within these entities and within the legal, state, federal regulations and accrediting agencies.
• Recruitment, retention, evaluation, and development of staff.
• Employee Scheduling.
• Preparing and monitoring financial and budgetary information.
• Planning, directing and coordinating programs.
• South Meadows Manager will be responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating programs including the COPD program for South Meadows.
Nature and Scope
The incumbent oversees the provision of Respiratory Care Services to Adult and Geriatric patients and comprehends a patient's physical, motor/sensory adaptation, cognitive, and psychosocial needs specific to the population being served. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring the delivery of timely quality patient care that meets standards of quality as measured by the unit/department age specific competency standards.
This position is accountable for development, implementation and assessing goals and objectives for department programs and budget, acquisition and maintenance of supplies and equipment, and the assessment of revenues and expenditures to ensure cost containment and compliance within budgetary allowances. In addition, the manager serves as a liaison with the medical staff, other departments and entities, and the community.
The major challenges to this position are providing the scope of respiratory services in an efficient manner while maintaining a level of quality consistent with the expectations of the medical and nursing staff, patients, and hospital administration. This includes the acquisition and maintenance of sufficient highly trained and qualified professionals to meet the growing demands for service.
The manager has the authority to make decisions regarding hiring, disciplining, evaluating, and terminating (with human resource consultation) department employees; planning, developing, and implementing department systems, policy and procedures, and procurement of equipment and supplies within budgetary guidelines.
Decisions that are referred to supervisor are budget recommendations, exceptions to hospital policy and procedures, and replacement or addition of personnel.
It is necessary for this position to remain abreast of the rapidly advancing technology, treatment techniques, reimbursement trends and state and federal regulations. The incumbent also participates in committees and task forces within Renown Health System and in the community.
It is common to encounter potential hazards in the healthcare environment. Some of these hazards could include, but are not limited to radiation, toxic chemicals, heat, noise, dust and stress. Renown Health has a Safety Management Program in place that addresses these issues.
This position does provide patient care.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:
Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English. Graduate of an accredited School of Respiratory Therapy. Bachelor's Degree preferred; Masters level preferred.
Experience:
Five years of health care experience with at least two of those years in a leadership or education position.
License(s):
Current Registered Respiratory Therapists (RRT) by the NBRC is required
Current Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners Respiratory Care Practitioner License is required.
State of Nevada Point of Care Analyst license, Director of point of care, or General supervisor of point of care required within 6 months of hire.
Certification(s):
Current AHA BLS certification required at time of hire. AHA ACLS, PALS, & NRP preferred.
Computer / Typing:
Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word and have the ability to use the computer to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.
