Job description

Title: Senior IT Project Manager      Location:  Mississauga, ON  (Canada)

The Senior IT Project Manager leads a project team or multiple project teams simultaneously.  The Senior IT Project Manager works on larger or more complex projects. They have the authority to run projects on a day-to-day basis and delegate tasks to individuals on the project team.  They will deliver the end-to-end project (s) to the agreed upon timeline, quality and within the budgeted project cost.  They will ensure that the projects (s) are individually defined, planned and delivered to the respective goals and objectives.

Just Energy is a consumer company focused on essential needs, including electricity and natural gas; health and well-being, such as water quality and filtration devices; and utility conservation, bringing energy efficient solutions and renewable energy options to consumers. Responsibilities:

Program and portfolio management
Involved with multiple projects, the Senior IT Project Manager can support program management, project portfolio management, and other project management duties. They provide big-picture assistance to the organization and manage all aspects of related projects to ensure alignment of the overall program with strategic business objectives. They manage a portfolio of initiatives that span across business units or a collective program.   

Goal setting and Project planning
The Senior IT Project Manager will define realistic project goals and objectives with individual project managers, department heads, senior management and other stakeholders. They collaborate with IT Dev to prepare estimates and develop detailed project plans for all phases of the project. Also, the Senior IT Project Manager will identify resource and budgetary requirements and help in their procurement to make sure the team achieves the project goals in the planned timeframes. Managing project scope and its changes fall under their supervision.

Mentoring and coaching
The Senior IT Project Manager will coach junior project managers and team leaders. They provide leadership by building and motivating project teams to meet their project goals by adhering to their responsibilities and reaching their milestones. They participate in building and training project teams to expand their capabilities by establishing best practices, policies, PM methodologies, quality assurance and control, tools, and templates. The Senior IT Project Manager is an advocate or champion of learning, process improvement, and project management at JE.

Project tracking and evaluation
The Senior IT Project Manager will facilitate project team meetings. They monitor, track, and control outcomes to resolve issues, conflicts, dependencies, and critical path deliverables. The Senior IT PM works analytically and creatively using teamwork, innovation, and excellence to solve problems.

Communications and coordination
The Senior IT Project Manager will develop and execute a communication strategy for all the different project stakeholders - from senior management to individual team SMEs. They report on project status, progress, metrics, risks, test results, and deployment activities. They are also responsible in providing feedback, advice, and encouragement to the project managers and team members. If the project requires, the Senior IT PM will coordinate with external partners, clients, vendors, and suppliers.

Qualifications:

  • At least five years related experience in project management, planning, and tracking
  • Experience working with business stakeholders in related industries
  • Experience with and understanding of full project or product lifecycle and have strong technical background
  • Proficiency in project management tools and related technology
  • Ability to demonstrate leadership, drive results, solve problems, and possess interpersonal skills from prior work situations
  • Experience in different project management methodologies - WATERFALL and AGILE practices
  • Experience in gathering requirements, business analysis, and documentation
  • Experience in coaching and team building
  • Achieving balance of and the right priority from multiple simultaneous projects

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Previous retail energy experience. 
  • Project management related training and diplomas. 
  • PMP or similar certifications. 

Compensation: $89,020 - 120,180 CAD Annual *This range reflects base pay only. This role is also eligible for an annual incentive plan based on company & personal performance.  Please note the compensation is listed in compliance with Ontario law and is specific to CA.  It does not apply to similar roles based in the United States.
