OVERVIEW
This position requires a leader with solid knowledge of project management. Key element of this role is to maximize the business value and ensure ROI for the overall IT portfolio is in alignment with the business strategy and growth opportunities. A Director of PMO will proactively work in partnership with IT and other functional leadership to better understand and manage business goals, business and IT priorities, challenges, and process improvement opportunities. This role needs to ensure that all programs, projects and capabilities are aligned to the company business strategy, that integration points across all projects, programs, capabilities and processes is understood and managed. He or she is an integral part in IT planning and prioritization discussions while sharing business impacts of funding decisions, as well as articulating key business strategies and tactical needs. Define the PMO methodology in order to deliver projects and measure process performance. This candidate will manage his or her own set of projects in addition to a team of project managers. The candidate must be flexible, adaptable, and able to work in ambiguous situations while having the ability to demonstrate resiliency and tenacity with a propensity to persevere as dynamics demand.
DETAILED ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Collaborate alongside the IT Strategic Supplier & Portfolio Lead to manage the Portfolio dashboard for the CIO and IT/business leadership to ensure alignment and visibility
  • Drive investment optimization, select best initiatives to maximize business value and ROI
    • Develop and manage comprehensive project portfolio, budgets, resource allocations, and costs with overall accountability for portfolio performance (key performance indicators and metrics).
    • Work with Release Management to coordinate and synchronize with release strategy
    • Work with project delivery & service management teams on resourcing strategies for projects to ensure optimum support for projects and for the day-to-day operational activities.
    • Collaborate with Finance and Functional leaders to develop and manage project and program budgeting and cost estimation
    • Prioritize programs and projects based on changing functional needs, resource capacity constraints, risk exposure, and interdependencies.
  • Responsible for bringing IT strategy to life through the execution of IT Portfolio
    • Create integrated program roadmaps, ensure interdependencies are clearly identified, manage and assist in timely resolution of interdependency conflicts
    • Apply risk management assessment in project planning/execution and resolves issues and conflicts associated with management of multiple complex high-priority projects; collaborate and coordinate with Release Management
    • Manage a portfolio of project and program management services (project prioritization, project analysis, project execution, project delivery) for the enterprise.
    • Lead the Project Management playbook of best practices, techniques, and tools for project planning, execution, milestone/deliverable tracking, communication, and key performance metrics
  • Lead the governance of the overall IT portfolio
    • Establishes metrics measurement, reporting & review forums to bring visibility and intervention if needed to ensure the performance meets the end objectives
    • Prepare and deliver regular, effective communications to ensure that leadership and project sponsors are adequately apprised of project statuses, successes, risks and issues
    • Provide weekly PMO Reports, Scorecards, and Dashboards to the IT leadership and key stakeholders.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
  • BS degree in computer science, business management or a related discipline is required
  • +15 years of experience in IT organization
  • +10 years of experience working with portfolio management, program management, including managing financials
  • PMP (Project Management Professional certification) preferred
