We are uniquely ExxonMobil. Integrity, care, excellence, resilience and courage - these core values determine how we work every day. At ExxonMobil, our values aren't just words - they're how we show up, focused on delivering the right answer, the right way, every day.

About You

We set the bar high and know you do, too. We're hiring students for summer internships. If you're currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in engineering technology, Construction Management, or another STEM program, we want to hear from you.

Other preferred qualifications include, but are not limited to:

  • Strong academic performance
  • High analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Effective communication skills
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities

What Role You Will Play On Our Team

As a Well Operations Intern you will be able to shadow our Well Operations Supervisor(s) who direct and manage well site operations including drilling, completions, frac and workover. This function works in support of the ExxonMobil Well's Organization to conduct worldwide oil and gas well drilling, completions, and workover operations with an emphasis on safety, cost, and efficiency improvement. Intern assignments are domestic, onshore locations. Full-time positions will have the opportunity over the course of a career to travel domestically and internationally to both onshore and offshore well-site locations while working in a team environment and with diverse cultures.

Our Well Operations Interns work a rotation schedule; you will work on the well-site for three weeks, then will be off for one week.

What You Will Do

At our company, your internship is an opportunity for impact and personal growth, powered by our global scale and inspired by a high-performing team. You'll gain exposure to the day-to-day work of full-time Well Operations professionals, giving you a true sense of what a career at ExxonMobil looks like. As an intern, you'll have opportunities to contribute to meaningful work from day one-gaining hands-on technical experience while building skills that will serve you throughout your career.

Daily activities can include:

  • Working as part of a Wells Team in-line with engineering staff and materials and contracting personnel to implement the drilling/workover/completion well design
  • Travel to well sites to supervise drilling/workover/completion operations
  • Organize and prioritize well site activities with a focus on safety, operations integrity, and continuous improvement
  • Analyze and communicate ongoing well-related operations, performance, and events while participating in the Wells Team's efforts to correct and improve performance

Additionally, you'll have the chance to tour facilities, learn from senior leaders, and connect with experienced professionals across the organization. We also host social events that give you the chance to build relationships with your cohort, recent graduates, and leaders across ExxonMobil.

Our goal is for every intern to leave ExxonMobil feeling valued, having gained meaningful experiences, professional growth, and lasting skills that support future success.

Program Details:

   Summer internships: ~3 months

  • This position is a rotation schedule; you will work on the well-site for three weeks (21 days), then will be off for one week (7 days) for your 12-week internship. With working a rotational schedule, our Well Operations Interns can live at home during their one week off and ExxonMobil will cover your travel expenses from home to our operational well-site for your three weeks on. Housing, vehicle, and meals will all be provided by ExxonMobil during your 3-weeks on-site.
  • Each Well Operation Intern will be assigned a large-scale, value-added project that they will present to Wells Leadership at the end of their summer internship.

High-performing interns are prioritized for return internships and, upon graduation, full-time roles in our Early Career Foundation program.

Your Total Rewards

Our total rewards help you thrive in and out of the office. From day one, you'll receive competitive compensation that reflects the value you bring. As an intern, you'll have access to medical, dental, and vision coverage, as well as our Employee Assistance Program and Culture of Health resources to support your well-being. If you're relocating to join us, we provide support to help you transition smoothly.
