Position Specific Description
NextEra Energy is seeking a Senior Data and Reporting Architect Manager to lead our financial data infrastructure and reporting initiatives. In this critical leadership role, you will bridge the gap between complex financial concepts and advanced technological solutions. You will serve as the architect and technical visionary for our SAP data ecosystem, ensuring our Financial Accounting and Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) teams have the robust, scalable, and secure reporting capabilities needed to drive business strategy.
The ideal candidate is an expert developer and architect with deep hands-on experience in SAP BW on HANA, SAP BDC on HANA, and SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC), coupled with expert experience supporting large-scale transactional systems and high volume data environments, and strong leadership skills to direct a blended workforce of internal employees and external contractors.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Architecture & Technical Road mapping
• Develop Technical Roadmaps: Define and own the strategic vision and multi-year technical roadmap for financial reporting and data architecture, aligning with NextEra Energy's broader enterprise goals.
• Expert Architecture & Development: Serve as the lead architect and hands-on technical expert utilizing SAP BW on HANA, SAP BDC on HANA, and SAP SAC technologies to design scalable, high-performance data models and reporting solutions.
• Systems Integration: Ensure seamless data flow and integration between core financial systems, enterprise data warehouses, and advanced analytics platforms.
• Enterprise Collaboration: Partner with enterprise data teams to deliver on enterprise data strategy and programs.
Financial Domain & FP&A Alignment
• Domain Expertise Application: Act as the technology liaison to the Finance organization. Leverage deep expertise in Financial Accounting, FP&A, and enterprise reporting to translate complex financial and regulatory requirements into technical deliverables.
• Process Optimization: Identify opportunities to automate and optimize financial close processes, forecasting models, and management reporting through advanced data architecture.
Delivery & Team Leadership
• Technology Change Delivery: Manage end-to-end technology change delivery. Oversee the software development life cycle (SDLC), ensuring new features and system upgrades are delivered securely, on time, and without disrupting critical financial operations.
• System Stability: Ensure systems supporting financial accounting and FP&A close processes are always available and stable.
• Financial Oversight: Deliver a positive return on investment (ROI) on technology spend.
• Workforce Management: Direct, mentor, and evaluate a high-performing, blended team of full-time employees and contractor labor. Optimize resource allocation across concurrent high-priority projects.
• Vendor & Stakeholder Management: Collaborate effectively with external technology vendors, system integrators, and senior business executives to ensure successful project execution and alignment.
Preferred Qualifications
• Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Finance, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
• Experience: Progressive work experience in data architecture, business intelligence, and IT leadership.
• Large-scale Data Engineering & SAP: Hands-on experience in data engineering and SAP data platforms, including the optimization and management of large-scale data architectures. Experience supporting heavy transaction workflows and processing high volumes of complex financial and operational data is strongly preferred.
• Technical Mastery: Proven expert-level development and architectural experience with:
• SAP BW on HANA
• SAP BDC on HANA
• SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC)
• Domain Knowledge: Deep understanding of Financial Accounting principles, FP&A cycles, SOX compliance, and financial reporting standards.
• Leadership Skills: Demonstrated success in managing complex technology, change delivery and leading a mix of internal staff and contract labor.
• Strategic Thinking: Ability to translate high-level business objectives into concrete, actionable technical roadmaps.
• Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical financial stakeholders.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Trains and coaches leaders, teams, Product Owners, and Scrum Masters in Lean-Agile practices and mindset
  • Contributes in Communities of Practice (CoP), within the agile network
  • Promotes and encourages collaboration and transparency and builds trusting relationships between business, delivery, and other entities within the organization
  • Facilitates periodic synchronization meetings across several different onsite and distributed delivery teams
  • Prepares program and release backlogs, as well as team and program objectives
  • Tracks, promotes, and publishes completed program features and program and team objectives
  • Manages risk and dependencies, communicates and escalates impediments to facilitate transparency, and reduces bottlenecks
  • Embraces a continuous improvement mindset, and drives the use of agile engineering best practices and innovation
  • Reports on standardized program-level metrics, and understands, tracks, and operates within the program budget
  • Plays an instrumental role in the organization's Agile transformation, acts as a change agent, and shows strong leadership skills with a positive and collaborative attitude
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned
