Job description

WFIU Radio and WTIU TV seek a journalist with at least 1 year experience to join their converged newsroom.
Department-Specific Responsibilities
  • Report on several community and regional stories.
  • Contributes to the news bureau's on-line presence and shoot and edit videos.
  • Generates news stories for radio, TV, and the web.
  • Conducts research, schedule interviews, write stories.
  • Using audio and/or video equipment to cover events for daily news coverage.
Qualifications
EDUCATION
Required
  • Bachelor's degree (or degree in progress) in journalism, telecommunication, or related field
WORK EXPERIENCE
Required
  • 1 year of experience in a broadcast and/or journalism field
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES
Required
  • Possess a valid driver's license with the ability to be insured by Indiana University
SKILLS
Required
  • In-depth understanding of journalistic principles, particularly as they apply to public media
  • Hands-on experience in writing, reporting, editing, production and on-air delivery in radio and TV and for the web
  • Ability to produce a television or radio news story from conception to broadcast
  • Experience working with multi-platform technologies and the ability to adapt material to a variety of platforms while adhering to AP style guidelines
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced 24/7/365 news environment

Must be available to work some evenings and weekends on short notice.
