Job description

As part of the AWS Communications team, you will drive awareness of AWS foundational services and technologies-compute, storage, and networking-that have made AWS the world's most comprehensive and broadly adopted cloud. You will develop and execute always-on programs focused on educating reporters on key services, while also creating opportunistic storytelling that demonstrates how AWS continues to innovate on behalf of customers. The role involves diving deep into specific technology areas to showcase emerging technologies and innovations that differentiate AWS from other providers.
Key job responsibilities
• Develop and manage proactive communications strategies for AWS foundational services such as Amazon EC2, Amazon S3, networking, containers, serverless, and related technologies.
• Build and maintain relationships with key technology and business reporters; serve as a primary point of contact for media inquiries related to your portfolio.
• Create and execute always-on media programs that educate the press on service capabilities, customer adoption, and differentiated innovation.
• Identify and develop compelling stories that go beyond product announcements-including customer success narratives, industry trends, and behind-the-scenes technology innovation.
• Partner closely with product, engineering, and marketing teams to understand technology roadmaps and translate them into communications opportunities.
• Support senior executives with communications strategies, media preparation, and spokesperson readiness for press interactions and industry events.
• Plan and execute communications programs for major product launches, including announcements at re:Invent and other AWS events.
• Flex across multiple service areas as priorities shift, demonstrating versatility and the ability to quickly ramp on new technical domains.
A day in the life
You spent equal time during the day coming up with compelling story angles that align without broader priorities, work across subject matter experts on the Product Marketing and Product Management teams to mine for supporting data and anecdotes, prepare spokespeople, only to be interrupted with a reactive request you need to prioritize due to a pressing deadline.
About the team
The AWS Global Communications team tells stories that make AWS impossible to ignore. We turn complex technical subjects into compelling narratives that inform, inspire, and drive action. As one team across time zones, cultures, and disciplines, we embrace diverse perspectives, take calculated risks, and hold ourselves to the highest standards of integrity and quality. We're strategic advisors who earn trust through action, innovate with purpose, and protect a team culture built on collaboration, accountability, and genuine enjoyment of the work we do together.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of recent professional communications or public relations experience
- Bachelor's degree
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in B2B, high-tech products/services preferred
- Experience conveying complex technical concepts to both technical and business audiences
- Experience working with fast-moving, high-performance teams and driving innovative solutions tailored to unique business environments
- • Familiarity with AI and ML, including generative AI
- • Current experience managing media relationships, and a network of media contacts
- • Experience in AI, cloud, or SaaS product communications
- • Experience advising senior executives on communications strategies and preparing them for press interactions
