UNIVERSAL Technologies is seeking a Mainframe Infrastructure Manager for a hybrid position in New York, NY. Active LinkedIn preferred. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing enterprise mainframe systems operations, infrastructure planning, disaster recovery coordination, software and hardware lifecycle management, and team leadership within a large-scale IT environment. Candidates must possess strong infrastructure management experience, excellent communication skills, and the ability to support mission-critical systems with 24/7 availability as needed.

MANDATORY SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field and four (4) years of relevant experience related to datacenter engineering and operations, cloud engineering and operations, or complex IT infrastructure engineering; OR
  • Bachelor s degree and eight (8) years of satisfactory full-time experience related to datacenter engineering and operations, cloud engineering and operations, or complex IT infrastructure engineering; OR
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 20+ years of experience working as an infrastructure manager within a large-scale enterprise environment
  • Strong experience managing enterprise infrastructure environments, including mainframe, AIX, Linux, or Unix systems
  • Experience with IBM mainframe technologies, subsystems, storage systems, and infrastructure operations preferred
  • Strong understanding of IBM z/OS operating systems, system architecture, performance management, security, and storage concepts preferred
  • Experience managing hardware and software upgrades, infrastructure modernization initiatives, and disaster recovery planning
  • Experience with performance monitoring, capacity planning, and infrastructure lifecycle management
  • Ability to lead infrastructure teams, assign tasks, manage priorities, and mentor technical staff
  • Strong vendor management and relationship management experience
  • Ability to analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve complex production and infrastructure issues
  • Experience developing project plans, coordinating technical resources, and delivering projects according to timelines
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to document procedures, technical issues, and operational processes
  • Ability to work collaboratively with technical teams, operations staff, vendors, and business stakeholders
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to provide off-hours support and participate in 24/7 production incident response activities as needed

SCOPE OF SERVICES

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the Mainframe Systems team and ensure system availability in accordance with established SLAs
  • Provide leadership for z/OS administration, hardware configuration, performance management, disaster recovery planning, and infrastructure modernization initiatives
  • Monitor mainframe systems operations and ensure issues are escalated and resolved appropriately
  • Lead disaster recovery planning, coordination, and implementation activities
  • Research, evaluate, and implement strategic infrastructure and mainframe technology solutions
  • Ensure compliance with technical policies, operational standards, and infrastructure procedures
  • Analyze system performance and capacity metrics to support infrastructure optimization and future planning
  • Perform daily, monthly, and annual performance and capacity planning activities for enterprise systems
  • Manage projects related to infrastructure hardware and software upgrades
  • Develop project plans, coordinate technical resources, and lead project execution for large and small initiatives
  • Track software releases, maintenance schedules, and infrastructure lifecycle activities
  • Coordinate with vendors regarding hardware, software, support services, and capacity planning initiatives
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend solutions aligned with organizational infrastructure needs
  • Develop, maintain, and manage technical documentation, operational procedures, and infrastructure standards
  • Coordinate with Operations teams to ensure procedural documentation remains accurate and current
  • Support fiscal planning activities related to hardware and software upgrades, end-of-life planning, capacity growth, and cost reduction initiatives
