Your ability to accelerate impact and make meaningful change for your clients is enabled by our strategic partner ecosystem and our robust technology platforms across the IBM portfolio, including Software and Red Hat.

Curiosity and a constant quest for knowledge serve as the foundation to success in IBM Consulting. In your role, you'll be encouraged to challenge the norm, investigate ideas outside of your role, and come up with creative solutions resulting in groundbreaking impact for a wide network of clients. Our culture of evolution and empathy centers on long-term career growth and development opportunities in an environment that embraces your unique skills and experience.

About Business Unit:

IBM Consulting is IBMโ€™s consulting and global professional services business, with market leading capabilities in business and technology transformation. With deep expertise in many industries, we offer strategy, experience, technology, and operations services to many of the most innovative and valuable companies in the world. Our people are focused on accelerating our clientsโ€™ businesses through the power of collaboration. We believe in the power of technology responsibly used to help people, partners and the planet.

Your role and responsibilities

As an HR Technology Associate Consultant, you will support the delivery of HR systems projects for our clients. This role is designed for new graduates and does not require prior consulting or HR technology experience. You will learn how modern HR systems work, how organizations manage their people processes, and how to support clients through technologyโ€‘enabled transformation. We welcome degrees in Computer Science, Software/Systems Engineering, Information Technology, Management Information Systems (MIS), Data Analytics, or other STEM fields with demonstrated programming/scripting coursework, as long as you bring curiosity, strong communication skills, and a willingness to learn.

In this role, you will do the following:

  • Learn HR Technology Platforms: You will receive structured training on leading HR systems (such as SAP SuccessFactors) and on Artificial Intelligence tools used in HR. You will learn how organizations manage processes like recruiting, onboarding, performance, compensation, learning, and others.
  • Solve Client Problems with Structured Thinking and Innovation: You will learn how to break down client challenges, analyze root causes, and propose practical and innovative solutions. This includes thinking creatively, applying what youโ€™ve learned about HR processes and technology, and collaborating with senior consultants to design approaches that meet each clientโ€™s unique needs.
  • Support Technoโ€‘functional development: Under guidance from senior consultants, you will help integrate HR systems with other HR and nonโ€‘HR applications. This includes analyzing and utilizing HR APIs, building integration flows, configuring single signโ€‘on (SSO) solutions, troubleshooting system connectivity issues and ultimately ensuring seamless system data exchange.
  • Analyze Client Requirements: You will participate in workshops with clients to understand their needs and document technical integration requirements and data flow specifications between HR platforms and upstream/downstream systems. You will learn how to translate business requirements into system functionality.
  • Test System Functionality: You will help test the system to ensure it works correctly. This includes running test scripts, checking results, identifying issues, and working with the team to resolve them.
  • Support Project Delivery: You will assist with project coordination activities such as preparing meeting materials, tracking tasks, updating project documents, and supporting the team in dayโ€‘toโ€‘day delivery.
  • Develop Professional Consulting Skills: You will learn how to communicate with clients, manage deadlines, work in teams, and solve problems in a structured way. These are foundational consulting skills that will grow throughout your career.
  • Participate in Continuous Learning: You will complete certifications, internal training, and handsโ€‘on learning to build your HR technology and integrations expertise and progress toward becoming a fully independent consultant.

Location Requirement: Successful candidates must reside, or be willing to reside, in one of the following cities. Please note that IBM does not offer relocation bonuses for this role: Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Calgary, or Vancouver.

Travel based on client needs: You will be required to travel as needed based on client requirements. Travel frequency will vary depending on the project and client location.

This opportunity is based in Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Calgary, or Vancouver and supports Associate Consultant hiring cohorts commencing in May 2027 and September 2027. We are recruiting for both start dates and encourage eligible candidates to apply.

Successful applicants must have graduated from a recognized postโ€‘secondary institution prior to their employment start date. Please note that MBA and PhD graduates are not eligible for this program.

Required technical and professional expertise

The successful candidate will possess:

  • Strong communication skills: You must be able to communicate fluently and clearly in English, work with clients, and communicate effectively within a team.
  • Selfโ€‘starter mindset: We need someone who takes initiative, drives their own work forward, and does not wait to be told what to do.
  • High dedication and followโ€‘through: Commitment and resilience are important. These traits are often demonstrated through past experiences such rigorous academic projects, hackathons, competitive pursuits, selfโ€‘directed software development or other activities that require discipline, consistency, and relentless effort.
  • Critical thinking: You should be able to break down problems, ask good questions, and think logically about how to solve challenges.
  • Teamwork: You must be able to collaborate effectively, support others, and contribute positively to team outcomes.
  • Technical Background: Knowledge of developing or working with APIs, familiarity with Java Script or Python. Software development knowledge utilizing Artificial Intelligence tools or intern experience with data transformations is a bonus.
Preferred technical and professional experience
  • Fluent French: Bilingual proficiency in French is a strong advantage.

IBM is committed to creating a diverse environment and is proud to be an equalโ€‘opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, caste, genetics, pregnancy, disability, neurodivergence, age, veteran status, or other characteristics. IBM is also committed to compliance with all fair employment practices regarding citizenship and immigration status.
