Job description

The Manager, Technology Learning is responsible for leading the firm's Technology Learning function, ensuring firm members have the knowledge and skills required to effectively leverage firm technology. This role oversees the development, delivery, and continuous improvement of learning programs and resources that drive technology adoption, user proficiency, and business performance, while leading a team of learning professionals and partnering with stakeholders across the firm.


Technology Learning Strategy & Curriculum

  • Lead the continuous enhancement of Technology Learning programs and curriculum to meet the evolving needs of the firm, various practice areas and business services and legal support groups.
  • Maintain a library of technology-focused learning resources, including on-demand and just-in-time materials.
  • Work alongside team members to deliver Technology Learning programs and provide hands-on support during periods of peak demand, absences, or project activity.

Program & Project Management

  • Manage the Technology Learning components of projects related to the rollout, upgrade, and optimization of firm technologies.
  • Ensure Technology Learning initiatives are delivered on time and aligned with firm objectives.
  • Evaluate program effectiveness and implement enhancements based on stakeholder feedback, learner needs, and usage trends.
  • Establish and monitor metrics to measure learning effectiveness, technology adoption, learner proficiency, and business impact.

Technology Adoption & Proficiency

  • Drive end-user adoption and sustained proficiency across core firm technologies.
  • Ensure Technology Learning programs align with firm technology capabilities, enhancements, and emerging legal technology and technology-enabled learning practices.

Process Improvement

  • Enhance the efficiency, consistency, and effectiveness of the technology learning aspects of onboarding and ongoing processes.
  • Improve the learner experience through streamlined and standardized approaches.
  • Ensure new hires achieve timely and consistent technology readiness.

On-Demand Development

  • Support the L&OD Director in developing and maintaining a robust Technology Learning knowledge hub, including microlearning, toolkits, and self-service resources.
  • Develop eLearning and digital learning content that supports Technology Learning initiatives.

Team Leadership

  • Lead and develop the team to ensure alignment with departmental goals, service standards, and firm needs.
  • Manage team performance, development, and performance improvement activities to ensure team members possess the skills and capabilities required to deliver services effectively.
  • In collaboration with HR, manage the recruitment, onboarding, and integration of new team members.
  • Manage team resources to support departmental priorities and project requirements.
  • Establish and maintain standards for learning delivery, service excellence, and program quality.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key practice group and business services stakeholders.

Budgets & Expenses

  • Contribute to annual budget planning and manage expenses within approved limits.

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in office administration, or equivalent experience to successfully complete the essential requirements of the role.
  • 7+ years’ experience in adult training and education (both technical and non-technical); a minimum of 2+ years of managerial experience, preferably within a law firm or professional services firm.  
  • Proficiency in Learning Content Authoring Tools (e.g., Articulate), AI and emerging Learning Technology, Enterprise Productivity & Collaboration Stack (e.g., Microsoft 365 Ecosystem), Digital Learning Design Technology (e.g., video tools, microlearning platforms, knowledge hubs).
  • Excellent client service orientation combined with the ability to manage multiple client needs at the same time.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to interact with individuals at all levels within the organization.
  • Proven leadership, relationship, collaboration and consultation skills and the ability to work with tact, poise and discretion.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work well both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational, project and time management skills to effectively prioritize and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Sound judgement, including the ability to work with tact, poise and discretion.
  • Strong initiative and accountability, taking ownership of tasks with minimal oversight and applying a determined, can-do, hands-on approach focused on achieving results.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and creative problem-solving skills.

This position is part of our hybrid work model with 3 days in the office per week. As part of our onboarding, new hires are required to be in the office more often for the first few months of employment to ensure they receive the requisite cross training.
