JOB DESCRIPTION AND PURPOSE:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Shop Technician Apprentice. This entry-level position is ideal for candidates with a strong interest in forklift maintenance and a willingness to learn. The Shop Technician Apprentice will undergo on-the-job training to acquire the skills necessary to perform routine maintenance tasks and assist in the repair of forklifts and related equipment.


RESPONSIBILITIES:


1. Training and Development:
 Undergo hands-on training in forklift maintenance, including routine tasks such as oil changes, filter replacements, and lubrication.
 Learn to troubleshoot and diagnose basic mechanical and electrical issues in forklifts.
 Receive instruction on conducting regular inspections to identify and address minor problems.


2. Assistance in Maintenance and Repairs:
 Assist experienced technicians in the repair of hydraulic systems, brakes, transmissions, and other basic components.
 Work alongside senior technicians to prioritize and complete repairs in a timely manner.
 Gain practical experience in maintaining an inventory of replacement parts and supplies.


3. Record Keeping:
 Keep accurate records of all maintenance and repair work performed.
 Document the details of training sessions and progress made in acquiring technical skills.


4. Safety Compliance:
 Learn and adhere to safety standards and regulations in all maintenance and repair activities.
 Follow established safety protocols and guidelines while working in the workshop or at client sites.


5. Cross Department Assistance:
 Will support the Parts Department with tasks such as running parts to field technicians, transferring parts from 3 rd party vendors to shop or techs in the field, and assisting with inventory as needed from Parts Team.
 Will support the Sales Department with tasks such as Pre Delivery Inspections on new / used equipment, “Make Ready” on units being sent out, and locating units in inventory for sales staff as needed.

 Will support the Rental Department by assisting in getting rental units checked in, checked out as needed. 


QUALIFICATIONS:


1. Education:
 High school diploma or equivalent.


2. Skills:
 Basic understanding of mechanical systems.
 Willingness to learn and develop technical skills.
 Attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions.
 Physical fitness and agility to handle the demands of the job.


3. Communication:
 Good communication and interpersonal skills.
 Ability to work collaboratively with team members.


Training and Development Opportunities:
1. On-the-job training in forklift maintenance.

3. Mentorship from experienced Forklift Technicians.
