Job description

The National Airspace System Integration Support Contract (NISC) Division of the Leidos Enterprise Transportation Business Area currently has an opening for a Technical Writer.

This position will be part of a dynamic team working to support the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in Oklahoma City at their Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center location.

Technical Writing Support - must provide technical writing expertise to assist in the publication of developed (and partially developed) technical documents. Specifically, the contractor will:

  • Support the creation, revision, and updating of technical documents
  • Support the development and creation of documents and procedures by providing technical writing skills commensurate with current business practices (plain language) and continuous process improvement methodologies.
  • Support groups in the participation of meetings and providing technical writing input for documentation needs. Support the proposal of timelines for documents, after which, the FAA will approve.
  • Provide support to ensure 508 Compliance for posted documents.
  • Provide input and suggestions for writing style guides and internal standard operating procedures (SOP) for supported documents.
  • Provide support in the coordination of submitted documents, including the review and comment process outlined in the appropriate FAA order and Quality Management System (QMS) process, and the post-coordination process including the resolution of comments and preparing the final document version for division level approval.
  • Provide support for the maintenance and retention of backup files in an electronic format for archival and update purposes.
  • Provide deliverables as electronic copies of files, reports, and products by assigned dates. Acceptable electronic formats are the current versions of Microsoft Word and/or Adobe Acrobat.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and 2+ years of prior relevant experience or master's with less than 2 years of prior relevant experience. Additional experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
  • Excellent customer service skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 including Teams
  • Ability to map business processes, prepare documentation, and perform analysis.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiar with the Federal Aviation Administration organizational structure and policies.
