Job Summary:
The Technical Writing Supervisor's time is spent overseeing the design, implementation or delivery of processes, programs, and policies using specialized knowledge and skills while coaching and reviewing the work of professionals within the team. The Supervisor maintains controlled documents in accordance with organizational policies and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs). The Individual builds productive internal/external working relationships and works toward solving problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors.
Essential Duties:
  • Has management skills to manage technical writer members throughout the process under effective quality, cost, and delivery aspects
  • Has ability to coordinate with HR group and other disciplines to develop and control skill versatility matrix with grading scales with impartiality throughout the process
  • Has ability to develop and drive metrics to meet production needs
  • Has proven ability to develop employee skills and foster teamwork
  • Experience creating process documentation that clearly and efficiently communicates concepts, ideas, and instructions
  • Ability to translate verbal information into clearly written procedures
  • Demonstrated excellence in digital photography including but not limited to the following: Still and motion photography
  • Attention to aspect ratio and subject framing
  • Ability to use macro features to capture closeup detail
  • Manipulation of files between camera and computer
  • Formatting and editing of digital images, including image size and resolution, color, brightness and contrast, rotation, and cropping
  • Ability to work under pressure while managing competing demands and tight deadlines (simultaneously managing multiple documentation projects)
  • Excellent listening and observation skills
  • Well organized with meticulous attention to detail
  • Mastery of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Vision
  • Able to judge and control document with consistency among the process in production

Qualifications
Requirements - Required and/or Preferred
Education:
  • Basic/Required: BA/BS degree in technical writing, engineering, draft, or related field
  • Preferred: None

Essential Qualifications:
  • 10 years pertinent experience
  • 5 years supervisory experience directly in technical writing
  • Experience creating technical specifications for automated manufacturing equipment is a plus
  • Experience reading and interpreting mechanical drawings is a plus
  • Strong computer skills a must
  • Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English

  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills
  • Results orientated with the ability to plan and deliver against production deadlines and goals
  • Resilient, self-motived and able to work well under pressure
