Job description

About the Opportunity:
We are partnering with a large, publicly traded technology organization seeking an experienced Technical Revenue Accounting Consultant to provide interim Manager-level support within its revenue accounting organization. This is a high-impact opportunity for a technical accounting professional with deep ASC 606 expertise who can independently own complex revenue workstreams and partner across finance, operations, systems, product, and other business teams.
This role goes beyond traditional operational accounting and offers exposure to new products, partnerships, commercial arrangements, and complex revenue recognition matters. The ideal consultant combines strong technical accounting expertise with the ability to translate accounting conclusions into practical business processes and solutions.
Duration: 5+ months
Location: 100% Remote (PST hours)
Compensation: $80-$90/hour (W-2)
Please note this range is an estimate and actual pay may vary based on qualifications and experience.
Scope:
  • Evaluate contracts, partnerships, and other commercial arrangements to determine the appropriate revenue accounting treatment under ASC 606.
  • Research complex and judgmental accounting matters and develop well-supported conclusions based on applicable guidance.
  • Prepare technical accounting memos, policy documentation, and other materials that clearly communicate accounting positions.
  • Partner cross-functionally with business stakeholders to translate accounting conclusions into operational processes.
  • Provide technical expertise related to revenue accounting policies, disclosures, and financial statement footnotes.
  • Take ownership of assigned revenue workstreams and independently manage priorities and stakeholder relationships.
  • Serve as a trusted technical accounting resource while helping the business navigate complex or evolving revenue matters.

Qualifications & Expertise:
  • Strong technical revenue accounting background with deep knowledge of ASC 606, contract review, revenue recognition policies, and complex transaction analysis.
  • Experience researching authoritative accounting guidance and preparing clear, technically supported accounting conclusions.
  • Ability to bridge technical accounting and operational execution, including partnering with cross-functional teams to implement accounting decisions.
  • Big Four experience and CPA designation.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, take ownership of complex workstreams, and operate effectively with limited oversight.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills within a fast-moving, highly collaborative environment.
  • Experience with a large public company, technology organization, or similarly complex business environment is preferred.
  • Comfortable managing significant volumes of information and multiple priorities across a complex organization.
