Overview
The Quality Supervisor is pivotal in maintaining and enhancing product safety and quality standards at Iowa Aluminum. This role involves supervising the documentation, inspection, and testing processes to ensure compliance with internal and customer specifications. The Quality Supervisor will work closely with the Quality Manager and production teams to implement effective quality control measures, drive process improvements, and resolve quality issues.

Duties

1. Quality Oversight and Documentation:

  • Assist in implementing corrective actions on the manufacturing floor and support the Quality Manager in analyzing root causes and evaluating the effectiveness of these actions.
  • Review inspection reports with the Quality Team to verify accuracy and completeness.

2. Communication and Training:

  • Communicate significant issues identified during quality reviews to relevant personnel and management, proposing process improvements.
  • Ensure team members receive appropriate training to meet quality standards.

3. Testing and Inspection:

  • Understand the optical comparator and other quality measurement tools.
  • Conduct mechanical (pull) tests using the Tensile Machine.
  • Understand production and departmental processes and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Assist in the continuous growth and development of the Quality Department.

4. Quality Control and Management:

  • Monitor the temper of parts as they exit the oven to ensure proper hardness and structural integrity.
  • Inspect non-conforming products and manage the inspection of returned materials from customers.
  • Ensure that all departments adhere to established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

5. Maintenance and Safety Compliance:

  • Responsible for maintaining all measuring equipment and tools required for the job.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and wear necessary personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Ensure adherence to high standards of cleanliness and organization across the production floor to prevent potential quality issues.
  • Comply with all quality-related policies, procedures, and systems.
  • Participate in safety and job training sessions as required.

6. Team Collaboration:

  • Assist in the continuous growth and development of the Quality Department.
  • Support team efforts in troubleshooting and problem-solving to enhance overall operational efficiency.
  • Assist with log loading, scrap dumping, tooling changes, and sample cutting during downtime.
  • Provide training and assistance to new team members or operators as needed.
