HOK New York is seeking Project Managers and Sr. Project Managers for its dynamic Sports, Recreation, and Entertainment practice. If you have a strong passion for sports, a commitment to managerial leadership, and a collaborative approach to working with teams, we'd love to hear from you!
At HOK, we design places where people gather, compete, train, and celebrate - from professional and collegiate sports venues to recreation centers and entertainment destinations. Our Sports + Recreation + Entertainment (SRE) group is seeking Project Managers and Sr. Project Managers with demonstrated experience in sports-focused projects to join our New York City studio. You will play a key role in shaping projects that are documented, coordinated, and built, while mentoring teams and contributing to a culture of excellence. Together with other teams, you will help continue to expand and grow the practice responsible for designing some of the most innovative sports venues around the world.
Lead Iconic Sports Projects
  • Advocate for and uphold the management intent of stadiums, arenas, training facilities, locker rooms, and other sports-related venues, ensuring seamless translation into comprehensive construction documentation.
  • Lead and support multiple project teams; maintain strong collaboration with project leadership.
  • Help develop project scope, fees, budgets, and schedules during marketing and contract phases.
  • Prepare and participate in client presentations.
  • Manage project information flow using Deltek, including work plans, staffing, schedules, budgets, and change notices.
  • Assist with consultant contracts and fee negotiations.
  • Ensure project budgets support quality management throughout all phases.
  • Integrate sustainable design strategies and promote a green workplace.
  • Foster a strong internal and external client-service culture.

Management
  • Coordinate closely with the Project Architect to maintain schedules and resolve conflicts.
  • Plan, organize, and manage project workflow; lead team meetings and maintain clear documentation.
  • Communicate effectively with consultants, contractors, and other disciplines.
  • Monitor construction administration activities.
  • Build and maintain positive client and consultant relationships.

Client Interface
  • Maintain ongoing client relationships and provide regular project updates.
  • Lead discussions to clarify requirements, coordinate decisions, and resolve critical issues.
  • Work with clients to define functional and spatial needs and review design solutions, materials, costs, and timelines.

Business Development
  • Contribute to the annual business plan and identify new project opportunities.
  • Support marketing efforts and assist in developing fee proposals.
  • Strengthen existing client relationships and help cultivate new ones.

Staff Development
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and mentoring to project staff.
  • Define staff requirements for projects as needed or directed.
  • Recommend staffing needs and participate in hiring and performance discussions.

Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture required; Master's preferred.
  • 10+ years of architectural experience for Project Manager applicants, including full-life cycle project management, preferably on complex or large-scale Sports projects. 20+ years with prior management experience required for Sr. Project Manager applicants.
  • Architectural licensure preferred; NCARB certification preferred.
  • LEED accreditation or Green Associate preferred.

Compensation is based on experience, qualifications, education, and location. The reasonably expected ranges for these positions are $110,000-$120,000 (Project Manager) and $120,000-$150,000 (Senior Project Manager). Other compensation may include a discretionary bonus.
