Job description

Associate Fire Sprinkler Designer

Build a career in fire protection design with Wiginton Fire Systems.

Wiginton Fire Systems is looking for an Associate Fire Sprinkler Designer to join our growing Design team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with fire sprinkler field experience, CAD experience, or a strong technical background who is ready to develop a long-term career in fire protection design.

Since 1967, Wiginton Fire Systems has been a leader in the fire protection industry. As a 100% employee-owned company, our employees have a direct stake in our success. We believe in developing our people, promoting from within, and providing opportunities to build careers that grow with the company.

What You'll Do

As an Associate Designer, you will work alongside experienced fire protection professionals to develop accurate fire sprinkler system drawings and help coordinate projects from design through installation.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Prepare detailed fire sprinkler system drawings using CAD and industry-specific design software.
  • Review architectural plans, specifications, and contract documents to understand project requirements.
  • Participate in pre-design and pre-construction meetings.
  • Coordinate sprinkler system layouts with architects, engineers, contractors, and other trades.
  • Identify potential design conflicts and help develop solutions before they impact field installation.
  • Prepare material lists, submittals, drawings, and other project documentation.
  • Assist with permit and approval submissions to Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs).
  • Support project schedules by completing drawings and design documentation within established deadlines.
  • Communicate with field personnel to ensure designs can be installed safely and efficiently.
  • Make drawing revisions based on project changes, coordination requirements, and field conditions.
  • Prepare as-built drawings and project closeout documentation.
  • Continue developing your knowledge of NFPA standards, fire protection systems, hydraulic calculations, and design practices.
What We're Looking For Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong computer and technical skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently while also being part of a team.
  • Interest in developing a career in fire protection design.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Fire sprinkler installation, service, inspection, or design experience.
  • Two or more years of fire protection industry experience.
  • Previous CAD training or experience.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, or similar design software.
  • Familiarity with NFPA standards and fire sprinkler systems.
  • Experience with hydraulic calculation software.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to meet company driving requirements when applicable.
Why Wiginton?

At Wiginton Fire Systems, we are focused on building careers, not simply filling positions. Our Associate Designer role provides the opportunity to learn from experienced professionals, expand your technical knowledge, and continue progressing within the fire protection industry.

As a Wiginton employee, you can expect:

  • 100% Employee-Owned Company (ESOP)
  • Competitive compensation
  • Comprehensive benefits
  • Paid training and professional development
  • Opportunities for continuing education
  • Career advancement opportunities
  • Exposure to a variety of commercial fire protection projects
  • A team-oriented environment with experienced industry professionals
  • Long-term career opportunities throughout a growing organization
Grow With Us

Whether you already have experience in the fire sprinkler industry or you're looking to transition your field or technical experience into design, this position provides an opportunity to develop valuable skills in a specialized industry.

If you're detail-oriented, technically minded, and looking for a company where you can continue learning and advancing your career, we want to hear from you.
