An MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) Director is responsible for overseeing the planning, design, and construction of MEP systems in building projects to ensure they are completed on time, within budget, and to specifications. Key responsibilities include coordinating with architects, engineers, and contractors; managing budgets and schedules; ensuring code and safety compliance; and performing quality inspections and problem-solving throughout the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

Project planning and management: Develop project plans, timelines, and budgets for MEP systems.

Design coordination: Collaborate with architects, engineers, and designers to integrate MEP systems and review/approve designs, specifications, and drawings.

Contractor/Subcontractor Selection: Participate in the overall CM selection process with focus on MEP and Commissioning capabilities. Lead in collaboration with MEP Engineer, subcontractor descope meetings for all MEP trade awards.

Construction oversight: Supervise MEP installations, conduct site inspections, and ensure work complies with project requirements and quality standards.

IT/AV/Surveillance: Lead the overall design, coordination and implementation of the project IT/AV/Surveillance systems. Work with integrators to ensure seamless installation of their individual turnkey systems as part of the overall construction timeline.

Budget and cost control: Manage project budgets, track costs, and identify areas for cost savings or value engineering.

Risk and issue management: Identify and mitigate project risks and resolve technical and logistical issues as they arise.

Stakeholder communication: Facilitate communication between all project stakeholders, including Engineering, contractors, and internal teams.

Compliance and safety: Ensure all MEP work complies with current/applicable building codes, industry standards, and safety regulations.

Commissioning and handover: Oversee system testing, commissioning, and final turnover to the operations team, ensuring all systems are performing as designed and all necessary documentation is received.
