Job description

Amazon's Worldwide Design & Engineering (WWDE) organization is seeking a Senior Technical Program Manager to join our Advanced Concept Team. This team drives system-level design for early-stage fulfillment center concepts — defining next-generation automation solutions before they enter traditional design phases, at the intersection of business strategy, product development, and engineering feasibility.

You will lead complex, cross-functional program initiatives that transform early-stage concepts into executable programs — coordinating across multiple engineering organizations and partner technology teams. This role requires navigating highly ambiguous problem spaces where business problems, program strategy, and technology solutions are not yet defined. You will own the organizational mechanisms and operational processes that enable the team to execute effectively — driving rhythm, accountability, and resource alignment. You will present program strategies to senior leadership and manage the full lifecycle of concept-to-implementation programs, ensuring next-generation fulfillment systems are feasible, scalable, and deliver measurable business impact.

Key job responsibilities
  • Lead end-to-end program management of complex, multi-team concept development initiatives across multiple automation and fulfillment technology domains
  • Drive program execution across engineering organizations, resolving conflicts and building consensus on key program objectives
  • Partner with engineering teams to ensure business objectives are translated into actionable technical requirements and functional specifications
  • Manage program dependencies, risks, and critical path across diverse technical workstreams; proactively identify and resolve blockers
  • Facilitate design reviews and architectural discussions, ensuring cost/schedule/performance trade-offs align with organizational goals
  • Build executive-level program documentation (business cases, concept approvals) and present to senior leadership
  • Drive stakeholder alignment across partner technology teams from ideation through design approval
  • Establish team mechanisms (WBRs, program cadences, design review gates) that create operational rhythm and accountability
  • Lead strategic planning and resource allocation — defining priorities, balancing headcount, and deploying capacity against highest-impact opportunities
A day in the life

Your mornings involve facilitating deep dives into technology trade-offs and partner team execution plans — resolving conflicts and aligning teams to deliver on senior leadership goals. Afternoons shift between concept approval meetings, unblocking cross-team dependencies, and working sessions refining program requirements. You also serve as the operational backbone of the team — running weekly syncs, maintaining the portfolio tracker, flagging resource conflicts, and partnering with leadership on strategic planning and prioritization. No two days are the same.
