Job description

Bemana is helping a gas powered electric generation plant in Convoy, OH to find an Operations & Maintenance Plant Technician to join their growing team!

As an Operations & Maintenance Plant Technician, you'll perform semi-skilled manual work, maintenance, and operating duties in connection with power plant operation. You'll also assist in monitoring and inspecting all plant equipment including gas turbines, generators, transformers, pumps, switchyard, and related auxiliary equipment.

Responsibilities:

  • Safety & Compliance: Demonstrate ethical behavior and lead safety-first initiatives, including conducting JSA briefings, managing LOTO/clearance permit procedures, and ensuring environmental and NERC compliance.
  • Plant Operations & Monitoring: Assist in the start-up, operation, and shutdown of turbines, boilers, and auxiliary equipment while monitoring field devices and remote controls to optimize unit economics.
  • Technical Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Diagnose, repair, and calibrate electrical, mechanical, and instrumentation systems using schematics, wiring diagrams, and predictive maintenance tools.
  • Specialized Equipment & Machining: Operate heavy machinery (forklifts, aerial lifts, cranes) and machine shop equipment (drill presses, shapers) to perform precise repairs and support facility projects.
  • Administrative & Inventory Management: Utilize work management systems to track work orders and PMs, manage site inventory, review invoices, and prepare technical sketches for equipment layouts.
  • Facility Inspections & Professional Development: Conduct regular inspection rounds to identify faulty equipment conditions and actively participate in technical and leadership training to advance toward full unit operation

Qualifications:

  • Associate Degree in Electronics, Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, Power Plant Technologies, or Industrial Engineering Technology (nice to have but not required). 
  • Must obtain and maintain all necessary certifications and licenses as required.
  • Successful completion of the Plant Operator Selection System (POSS) and the Plant Maintenance Selection System (MASS) tests.
  • Ability to read, interpret and work from prints and specification.
