What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Technical Interpreter, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Technical Interpreter, you need fluency in at least two languages, strong subject-matter expertise, and a relevant degree or certification in interpretation. Familiarity with industry-specific terminology, computer-assisted interpretation tools, and remote conferencing systems is typically required. Outstanding listening skills, cultural sensitivity, and the ability to think quickly under pressure help set exceptional technical interpreters apart. These skills are crucial for ensuring accurate and effective communication in specialized fields, minimizing misunderstandings and supporting seamless collaboration.

How does a Technical Interpreter typically collaborate with engineers and non-technical stakeholders during meetings or project discussions?

Technical Interpreters frequently serve as a communication bridge between engineers and non-technical stakeholders, such as clients or management teams, during meetings or project updates. They must quickly process complex technical information and accurately convey it in clear, accessible language, often in real-time. This role requires staying attentive to technical jargon, asking clarifying questions when necessary, and ensuring that all parties leave with a shared understanding. Collaboration skills are essential, as Technical Interpreters often coordinate closely with project managers and subject matter experts to prepare for discussions and to follow up on any unresolved questions.

What are technical interpreters?

Technical interpreters are language professionals who specialize in translating spoken communication in technical or specialized fields, such as engineering, medicine, IT, or science. They facilitate communication between individuals or groups who speak different languages during conferences, meetings, training sessions, or site visits where complex, industry-specific terminology is used. Their expertise ensures that technical concepts and instructions are accurately conveyed, reducing misunderstandings and promoting effective collaboration.

You must be able to communicate effectively with customer Solution Architects, technical teams, system owners, and business stakeholders, translating operational and technical requirements into actionable plans for Tessera's AI and engineering teams. Your understanding of enterprise systems modernization will allow you to provide guidance during issue resolution, support architecture discussions, and ensure teams stay aligned on what is required and technically feasible.
The ideal candidate has spent years delivering ERP transformation programs within System Integrator environments or large enterprises and is excited to apply AI to accelerate modernization initiatives at scale.
Key Responsibilities
ERP-Focused Technical Program Leadership

  • Leverage deep ERP and enterprise systems knowledge to anticipate technical friction points related to data structures, legacy customizations, integrations, and workflow orchestration
  • Lead cross-functional delivery pods including Forward-Deployed Engineers, Data Engineers, and AI engineering teams through complex enterprise modernization initiatives
  • Support modernization efforts spanning ERP, CRM, Finance, HRIS, and operational platforms
Technical Communication & Stakeholder Alignment

  • Lead discovery workshops to map complex system landscapes, business processes, data flows, and integration points to Tessera's agentic AI capabilities
  • Translate technical trade-offs and implementation plans to both executive stakeholders and technical delivery teams
  • Facilitate alignment across enterprise architecture, IT operations, security, and business functions
Execution Management in Complex Enterprise Landscapes
  • Drive Agile delivery within enterprise change management frameworks and modernization methodologies
  • Anticipate risks related to legacy system remediation, data harmonization, integration dependencies, and business continuity
  • Develop mitigation plans rooted in operational and technical realities
  • Coordinate across multiple workstreams, vendors, and customer stakeholders to maintain delivery momentum
Enterprise-Grade Governance & Deployment
  • Ensure all delivery activities meet enterprise standards for security, compliance, auditability, and operational governance
  • Oversee technical prerequisites for integrations across enterprise platforms and cloud environments
  • Partner with customer security and infrastructure teams to ensure successful deployments and operational readiness
Customer Engagement & Escalation Management
  • Serve as the primary technical operations contact during onboarding and implementation phases
  • Manage technical escalations from customer IT and business teams, coordinating responses with engineering and product stakeholders
  • Build trusted relationships with enterprise customers through strong communication, accountability, and delivery excellence
Startup Mindset & Extreme Ownership
  • Operate effectively in a fast-paced, high-growth environment with evolving priorities and ambiguous challenges
  • Bring structure, clarity, and momentum to complex enterprise transformation programs
  • Travel to customer sites for workshops, solution design sessions, and implementation oversight as needed
Required Qualifications
