The Utilities Engineer – Coordination and Interface Management is responsible for the identification, coordination, and resolution of interfaces between the High-Speed Rail (HSR) project and existing utility infrastructure, utility owners, and municipalities.

The role includes managing utility-related data, including Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) information across all quality levels (Quality Levels (QL-D to QL-A)), Geographic Information System (GIS) data, legacy records, and Computer-Aided Design (CAD) models.

The position requires active participation in stakeholder coordination, supporting the definition of conflict resolution strategies and ensuring that third-party designs are aligned with agreed requirements, schedule, and project constraints.

It covers both:

·         The engineering of existing conditions (data collection, validation, and constraint identification);

·         The engineering of proposed solutions, through coordination with stakeholders to define, challenge, agree upon, and validate utility conflict resolution strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

·         Coordinate with utility owners, municipalities, and third parties on a day-to-day basis

·         Capture, validate, and track stakeholder requirements and constraints

·         Support the collection, validation, and integration of utility data (SUE QL-D to QL-A, GIS, legacy records)

·         Identify utility conflicts and support their assessment

·         Contribute to ensuring the accuracy and completeness of utility data

·         Participate in the development of conflict resolution strategies (relocation, protection, accommodation)

·         Coordinate with internal design teams (structural, track, etc) for conflict resolution

·         Review third-party proposals and identify inconsistencies or risks

·         Support validation of proposed solutions against project requirements

·         Track progress of third-party design and provide visibility on status and issues

·         Ensure utility data and solutions are properly integrated into project models (CAD/3D environments)

·         Support risk identification and mitigation efforts

·         Maintain coordination records, decision logs, and interface tracking tools

·         Support interface management processes and overall coordination activities

Requirements

·         5–10 years of experience in utilities coordination, infrastructure projects, or interface management

·         Experience working with utility owners, municipalities, and third parties

·         Experience working on transit and rail infrastructure projects

·         Working knowledge of Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) (QL-D to QL-A)

·         Understanding of utility relocation, protection, and accommodation strategies

·         Experience with utility data integration (GIS, CAD, legacy records)

·         Experience supporting design coordination or reviewing third-party deliverables

·         Experience in large infrastructure or linear projects is an asset

Skills and Competencies

·         Ability to coordinate with multiple stakeholders in a structured manner

·         Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

·         Attention to detail, particularly when working with utility data

·         Ability to assess both existing conditions and proposed solutions with guidance

·         Good communication skills, both written and verbal

·         Ability to identify inconsistencies and raise technical concerns

·         Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks

·         Team-oriented mindset and ability to work in multidisciplinary environments

·         Has a strong fluency in either English or French and willingness to learn the other.

Salary Range for this role is approx $90,000 - $110,000
