REPORTING TO: Manufacturing Leader
LOCATION: West Henrietta, NY
HOURS: B-Shift 2pm - 10:30pm

SCOPE OF ROLE:
The Lens Coating team works over several shifts utilizing small but highly effective teams. Leading each of those teams is a Team Leader. The Lens Coating Technician I is responsible for helping the team to be successful on a day-to-day basis in the cleanroom, applying desired thin film coatings to a variety of lenses, prisms, and other optical components in vacuum coating chambers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
The Lens Coating Team is currently looking for a Lens Coating Technician I for manufacturing operations. The right person will become an integral member of the coating production team. Key success criteria for this position are customer satisfaction as measured by product quality, on-time delivery, and high productivity. Specific job responsibilities include:
  • Manage and meet daily production goals, escalate issues and concerns affecting meeting the goal as they arise.
  • Ability to work with members of engineering and leadership to achieve and align on a common goal.
  • Identify and escalate safety or quality issues to the appropriate parties.
  • Recognize and tag non-conforming material to be further inspected by the quality department.
  • Train on and use in house testing/tracking software.
  • Ability to learn basic chamber maintenance, metrology, and operate a manual coating platform.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
The ideal candidate will have a clear desire to succeed and be effective working in a fast-paced environment. On a personal level, the candidate will exhibit the highest standards of integrity, deliver upon all commitments, and be a highly motivated, team player.
  • Minimum HS Diploma or equivalent. And 1-2 years of relevant optical coating work experience or 2+ years of working in an optics or photonics field/manufacturing environment.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Clear communication skills.
  • Strong technical aptitude and work ethic.
  • Excels at performing consistent re-occurring tasks over a duration of time.
  • Able to learn new skills and job functions.
  • Works well in a team environment.
  • Initiative to perform a variety of tasks to meet desired goals.
  • Very good manual dexterity.
  • May require standing or sitting for extended periods of time.
  • Occasional lifting up to 15 - 45 lbs. as needed.
  • Maintains a clean and orderly workstation.
  • Capable of working in an ITAR registered facility.
  • Must be able to work scheduled shift and overtime as production schedules require.

DESIRED TRAITS:
  • Direct experience with the handling, processing, and cleaning of optical lenses and filters.
  • Direct experience with thin film optical coatings and vacuum chamber operation and functions.
  • Good written and oral communication skills, ability to read and comprehend work instructions.

The compensation range for this position is $37,500.00 - $56,300.00, depending on experience. This position may be eligible for performance based bonus plan.
