Position Overview

Halvik is seeking an experienced Technical Writer to support an emerging technology program. The position requires a skilled technical professional responsible for developing, editing, reviewing, and maintaining technical and program documentation supporting IT modernization initiatives and ongoing operations in support of a customer's mission-critical requirements. The ideal candidate combines strong writing and editing skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise, and audience-appropriate documentation for technical, operational, and executive stakeholders.

Core Responsibilities
  • Develop, edit, review, and maintain technical documentation supporting technology initiatives, programs and operations.
  • Create system documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), user guides, implementation guides, training materials, knowledge articles, and technical reports.
  • Collaborate with technical team members, including engineers, technical specialists, subject matter experts, quality assurance specialists, and program managers to gather information and document technical processes.
  • Translate complex technical information into clear and concise written products for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Follow established standards, templates, style guides, governance requirements, and quality expectations.
  • Review technical content for completeness, clarity, accuracy, grammar, formatting, and alignment with program requirements.
  • Support knowledge management and continuous improvement initiatives to improve documentation quality, control, accessibility, and usability.
  • Maintain documentation repositories and assist with organization of program records and artifacts.
Minimum Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of professional experience, ideally within a Federal environment. (Can substitute experience with education: MA/MS degree or higher and 8 years of experience OR 14 years of experience.)
  • Technical Proficiency: Experience using Microsoft Office products including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Visio.
Preferred Expertise
  • Demonstrated success supporting Federal contracts.
  • Experience developing technical documentation, SOPs, user guides, process documentation, or engineering artifacts.
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum delivery methodologies and enterprise IT practices for software development, cloud, and cybersecurity programs.
  • Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical content into terms suitable for executive and government stakeholders.
  • Experience working with technical teams including software developers, engineers, cybersecurity professionals, or architects.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others and contribute to a team environment.
