Description:

Position Summary:

The Cell Lead oversees day-to-day operations of a metal fabrication cell to ensure quality, productivity, and safety standards are met. This role includes leading a team of fabricators and machine operators, coordinating workflow, setting up machines, maintaining production schedules, and ensuring adherence to company procedures.


Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Supervise and coordinate daily activities of the cell
  • Assign tasks to team members based on production needs and employee skills
  • Ensure production schedules and deadlines are met while maintaining high-quality standards
  • Monitor and inspect work to ensure compliance with specifications, quality standards, and safety regulations
  • Set-up and operate fabrication machinery and tools as needed
  • Train, mentor, and support team members; provide feedback and report performance issues to management
  • Troubleshoot fabrication problems and coordinate solutions with engineering and maintenance as needed
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in accordance with OSHA and company standards
  • Support continuous improvement efforts in productivity, quality, and process optimization
Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent
  • Technical certifications or vocational training preferred
  • 3–5 years of experience in metal fabrication, with at least 1 year in a leadership or lead role
  • Strong knowledge of metal fabrication processes and equipment (cutting, bending, welding, etc.)
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and job orders
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and safety protocols

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift 50+ pounds
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
