Position Summary
The Technical Manager oversees and directs the daily operations of the process technical team ensuring adherence to budget, proper labor staffing, and production schedules. This role ensures the technical readiness and execution of all production activities by managing workforce planning, coordinating materials and equipment, and optimizing the utilization of machinery and labor. The Technical Manager provides strategic and day-to-day leadership, ensuring that all associates are aligned with plant objectives and that production goals are achieved safely, efficiently, and with the highest quality standards.
Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities
  • Maintain and enforce a safe working environment that meets or exceeds OSHA standards and comply with all company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and manage technical staffing plans, schedules, and assignments to support production requirements while maximizing productivity and resource efficiency.
  • Ensure all required documentation, reports, and system entries are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Provide continuous training and guidance to technical staff on proper procedures, processes, and best practices; conduct follow-up audits and report performance to leadership.
  • Lead all day-to-day supervisory responsibilities, including training, performance evaluation, coaching, and disciplinary actions in alignment with company policy.
  • Collaborate closely with production, quality, and operations leadership to maintain workflow balance and optimize the use of technical resources.
  • Ensure product quality by validating that all technical and production processes comply with established standards and by identifying and addressing defects across all work centers.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement, document solutions, and implement procedures that drive cost reduction, eliminate waste, and increase operational efficiency.
  • Participate in daily operation reviews to communicate performance updates and drive effective problem resolution.
  • Escalate operational challenges to appropriate leaders or support functions when additional expertise or resources are needed.
  • Coordinate with peer managers and supervisors to ensure alignment with production priorities and communicate technical changes or impacts.
  • Perform other management-level responsibilities and duties as assigned.

Job Specifications / Skills
  • Thorough knowledge of equipment related to injection molding, blow molding, and/or profile extrusion.
  • Ability to achieve results through collaborative teamwork, inclusive leadership, accountability, and strong cross-functional partnerships.
  • Strong capability to manage shifting priorities within a fast-paced production environment.
  • Effective written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Minimum Position Requirements
  • BS in Engineering or technical equivalent
  • Minimum 5+ years technical leadership experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Prior frontline leadership or supervisory experience in an industrial setting (e.g., Lead, Coordinator, Supervisor).

"The Virginia base pay range for this position is from $111,800 to $153,800. Salary will be based on prior experience related to the skills required for this position."
