Job description

TECHNICAL ASSOCIATE I, Sur Lab, Picower Institute for Learning and Memory, to assist with general operational and research-related tasks regarding the role of diverse brain regions involved in information processing. The laboratory utilizes state-of-the-art in vivo imaging techniques and advanced behavioral paradigms to elucidate how cortical circuits involved in learning and memory govern behavioral responses. Will be responsible for conducting histology, behavioral experiments, maintenance and scheduling of behavior equipment, technical support for lab personnel, and administrative duties such as purchasing and maintaining compliance with MIT regulatory offices as needed. As skills develop, there is significant potential for increasing involvement in scientific research. Duties may also include establishing, maintaining, and performing experiments in cultured cell lines including induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) and iPSC-derived neuronal or astrocytic cell lines; tissue culture (including brain organoids, stem cells, neuronal progenitors, neurons), stem cell facility maintenance, and molecular and biochemical assays (PCR, western blotting, genotyping, etc.), imaging using confocal or multi-photon techniques; and providing research support and performing administrative and other duties as assigned. This position is ideal for a motivated and organized individual who is interested in systems-level neuroscience and excited about conducting innovative and cutting-edge research.
