Job description

The George E. Booth Co. is a family-owned and operated industrial automation sales company looking to hire their next full-time Technical Sales Engineer at our Romeoville, Illinois location.

The George E. Booth Co. is a major distributor of process instrumentation products, controls, and related services to customers in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, and Tennessee.  Founded in 1963, George E. Booth Sr. recognized that there would be a natural evolution in the development of products for the industrial instrumentation process field. 

The ideal candidate will have abilities to interface with customers to fully develop an understanding of customer needs and maintain open channels of communication with both internal and external partners to ensure all customer needs are met. Position is bound primarily to a standard office desk station with occasional travel to local territory during normal business hours. A clean driving record required. This role comes with a competitive compensation plan and as well as excellent benefits. All candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities for the TSE

  • TSE assist customers with selection of products based on the scope of project needs through various applications, prepare quotations and follow-up on status.
  • TSE will need a comprehensive understanding of technical products that may include but are not limited to concepts of pressure, flow, resistance, etc. 
  • TSE will troubleshoot situations with customers to analysis and interpret any problems customers may encounter.
  • TSE will enter orders into ERP system and Salesforce to help the Technical Sales team, as needed.
  • TSE will document quotation and follow-up through Salesforce/ERP system.
  • Position will be required to process all orders through GEBCO ERP system.
  • TSE will be responsible for day-to-day decisions related to pricing and overall customer care within the company's established parameters.
  • Position will coordinate and communicate regularly with outside salesperson to fully develop accounts within designated sales territory.
  • Interaction with customers on-site may be required at times.

Requirements for the TSE

  • Bachelor's degree in technical field (electrical, engineering, etc.) or equivalent work experience in technical field required.
  • Attention to detail, organization skills and ability to work independently or with a team are a must for success in this role.
  • Results-driven personality a plus.
  • Strong communication skills whether written, verbal or otherwise required especially using moderately complex terminology and concepts.
  • Must be willing to travel locally with occasional overnights. 
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in technical field with customer service or similar.
