What are tech jobs?

Tech jobs refer to roles within the technology sector, involving the development, implementation, and maintenance of computer systems, software, hardware, and networks. These jobs can range from software engineers and data analysts to IT support specialists and cybersecurity experts. Tech jobs are found across many industries and often require problem-solving skills, technical knowledge, and adaptability to rapidly changing technologies. Many positions offer remote work options and competitive salaries, making tech a popular and dynamic career field.

How does a tech professional typically collaborate with other departments within a company?

Tech professionals frequently work alongside teams from various departments such as marketing, sales, and operations to develop, implement, and support technology solutions that drive business goals. This often involves participating in cross-functional meetings, gathering user requirements, explaining technical concepts to non-technical colleagues, and troubleshooting issues together. Effective communication and teamwork are essential, as Tech professionals act as a bridge between technical and business teams. This collaborative approach ensures that technical solutions are aligned with organizational needs and enhances overall project success.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a tech professional, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Tech professional, you need a solid understanding of computer science fundamentals, problem-solving abilities, and often a relevant degree or certification. Familiarity with programming languages, development frameworks, and tools like Git, cloud platforms, or specific software systems is frequently required. Strong communication, teamwork, and adaptability help you collaborate across projects and quickly learn new technologies. These skills are crucial for staying effective in a rapidly evolving industry and delivering successful technology solutions.

Job description

About Us

Summit IT Solutions is a security-focused Managed Service Provider (MSP) delivering modern, reliable IT services to businesses across Oklahoma. We take a hands-on, partnership-driven approach-embedding ourselves into our clients' operations, supporting their systems, and strengthening their security posture. Our team values accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement. We don't just fix issues; we build resilient environments.

Position Overview

We are seeking a Tier II IT Technician with strong experience in workstation support and a solid comfort level with networks, servers, and MSP environments. This role blends remote support, onsite troubleshooting, and hands-on implementation work. You'll handle escalations from Tier I, perform deeper diagnostics, and assist with configuring and maintaining client infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

Diagnose and resolve escalated hardware, software, and network issues (remote and onsite).
Support and maintain Windows Server environments, Active Directory, Group Policy, and file/permission structures.
Configure and troubleshoot firewalls, switches, wireless networks, and VPNs.
Deploy, image, and configure workstations, laptops, and related hardware.
Assist with server builds, migrations, and infrastructure projects.
Document work clearly in the PSA system and follow internal processes.
Participate in client onboarding, network assessments, and environment documentation.
Provide mentorship and technical support to Tier I technicians.
Assist with staging, prepping, and organizing equipment as needed for project rollouts.

Benefits

  • Competitive pay with clear opportunities for advancement.
  • Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurances
  • HSA and FSA
  • 401(k) with Matching Schedule
  • PTO and Paid Holidays
  • Ongoing training, certification support, and professional development
  • A team culture built on accountability, growth, and doing things the right way.

Join Us

If you're confident with networks and servers, enjoy solving real-world problems, and want to be part of a growing MSP that prioritizes quality and security, we'd love to meet you. At Summit IT Solutions, you'll make a direct impact on client environments while continuing to grow your technical expertise.

**THIS POSITION REQUIRES strong understanding of NETWORKING and SERVERS

2+ years of IT support experience, MSP experience preferred.

Working knowledge of Windows Server, Azure AD/Entra, and Microsoft 365 administration.
Solid troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills.
Excellent communication skills and professionalism with clients.
CompTIA A+ and Network+ required. Additional industry certifications-Server+, Microsoft 365, Azure, or equivalent-are strongly preferred.
Valid driver's license and ability to travel locally to client sites.
Bilingual is a plus.
