Student Radiology Technologist — Imaging

Learn real-world imaging in a supportive department. As a Student Radiology Tech at NARMC, you'll perform radiographic tasks under direct supervision, develop strong positioning and safety habits, and build confidence for your ARRT exam and future RT role.

Job Summary

Under the supervision of registered Radiologic Technologists, perform radiographic procedures you've been validated to complete; assist with patient transport and room turnover; document exams in Meditech; and follow radiation safety and infection control procedures. Students do not work independently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Apply technique charts; select/operate equipment; position patients; evaluate image quality and identifiers.
  • Complete Meditech entries/charges; burn CDs; maintain room stock; report equipment issues.
  • Assist physicians during exams; follow HIPAA and biohazard disposal protocols; practice safe body mechanics.
  • Progress through a defined competency list (e.g., chest, abdomen, spine, extremity, portable, OR) under direct supervision.

Job Qualifications

Required

  • Enrollment in a recognized Radiologic Science & Technology program; BLS; English proficiency.

Preferred

  • Prior radiation safety education; related patient-care experience.

Compensation & Schedule

  • Status: PRN/part-time (hours vary by rotation and department need)
  • Schedule: Variable shifts (days/evenings) including some weekends as assigned
  • Pay: Competitive hourly rate (details during interview)
