What are tech jobs?

Tech jobs refer to roles within the technology sector, involving the development, implementation, and maintenance of computer systems, software, hardware, and networks. These jobs can range from software engineers and data analysts to IT support specialists and cybersecurity experts. Tech jobs are found across many industries and often require problem-solving skills, technical knowledge, and adaptability to rapidly changing technologies. Many positions offer remote work options and competitive salaries, making tech a popular and dynamic career field.

How does a tech professional typically collaborate with other departments within a company?

Tech professionals frequently work alongside teams from various departments such as marketing, sales, and operations to develop, implement, and support technology solutions that drive business goals. This often involves participating in cross-functional meetings, gathering user requirements, explaining technical concepts to non-technical colleagues, and troubleshooting issues together. Effective communication and teamwork are essential, as Tech professionals act as a bridge between technical and business teams. This collaborative approach ensures that technical solutions are aligned with organizational needs and enhances overall project success.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a tech professional, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Tech professional, you need a solid understanding of computer science fundamentals, problem-solving abilities, and often a relevant degree or certification. Familiarity with programming languages, development frameworks, and tools like Git, cloud platforms, or specific software systems is frequently required. Strong communication, teamwork, and adaptability help you collaborate across projects and quickly learn new technologies. These skills are crucial for staying effective in a rapidly evolving industry and delivering successful technology solutions.

We are looking for someone who is professional, motivated, comfortable talking with customers, and willing to learn. The right candidate will learn 525 Technologies' products and services and work with the team to identify customer needs, develop solutions, prepare proposals, and build long‑term business relationships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop new customer relationships through prospecting, networking, referrals, outreach, and follow‑up.

  • Maintain and grow relationships with existing customers.

  • Learn and communicate 525 Technologies' products, services, and capabilities.

  • Meet with customers to understand their technology needs, upcoming projects, and business challenges.

  • Work with internal technical and operations teams to develop solutions for customers.

  • Assist with quotes, proposals, presentations, and customer follow‑up.

  • Maintain an active sales pipeline and keep customer and opportunity information current in the CRM.

  • Follow up consistently on leads, quotes, proposals, and open opportunities.

  • Identify opportunities to sell additional products and services to existing customers.

  • Build relationships with schools, colleges and universities, government agencies, commercial organizations, and other prospective customers.

  • Participate in customer meetings, industry events, networking opportunities, and other business‑development activities.

  • Meet established sales activity and performance goals.

Products & Services

The Sales Consultant may sell solutions that include:

  • IT hardware and technology products

  • Computers, laptops, displays, and related equipment

  • Network infrastructure and structured cabling

  • Security cameras and video surveillance

  • Access control systems

  • Audiovisual and interactive display solutions

  • IT support and professional services

  • Technology installation and deployment services

  • Staffing and technology consulting services

Qualifications

  • 0–5 years of sales, business development, customer service, account management, or related experience

  • IT or technology sales experience is a plus, but not required

  • Strong communication and relationship‑building skills

  • Comfortable speaking with new and existing customers

  • Willingness and ability to learn technology products and services

  • Self‑motivated with the ability to follow up and stay organized

  • Professional and dependable

  • Comfortable working toward sales goals

  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office/Microsoft 365

  • Ability to learn CRM and sales tools

  • Bachelor's degree preferred but not required

Ideal Candidate

This role may be a good fit for someone who has sales experience and wants to move into technology sales, or an early‑career candidate who demonstrates strong communication skills, initiative, confidence, and the ability to learn. We are more interested in sales potential, work ethic, and the ability to build relationships than requiring several years of IT sales experience.
