Job description

Under general supervision, analyzes customer business needs and participates in the planning, design and implementation of new or enhanced systems.
The selected candidate must be a U.S. Citizen.
Local candidates highly desired.
Act as a liaison between client areas and technical systems groups. Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of university processes and business process design activities. Capture business requirements and assure they are adequately and accurately addressed in application implementation. Redefine business processes to maximize effective use of selected applications. Develop or modify complex information systemsmodels. Facilitate issue identification and resolution. Facilitate risk identification and mitigation plans. May be responsible for setting employee goals, assessing employee performance and providing feedback, and making pay recommendations.While the intent may be a long term tenure, this position is subject to annual budget restrictions. The initial contract is through the end of this fiscal year and is anticipated to be renewed July 1, 2024.
IMPACT & INFLUENCE: This position will interact on a consistent basis with: Business Analysts, IT staff, senior staff, campus financial managers, business office colleagues, and other laboratories and divisions. This position may supervise staff.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Apply detailed knowledge of standard documentation processes, business system architecture and associated technologies.
  • Write and review complex documents. Provide testing solutions to see that business needs are effectively met, and provide functional application support as needed.
  • Formulate and define systems scope and objectives based on both user needs and a thorough understanding of business systems and industry requirements.
  • Draw out complex or hidden relationships, analyze business and user needs; document requirements and translate into proper system requirement specifications.
  • Lead others to articulate additional possibly hidden needs, while working in multiple business/technical areas. Contribute to quality assurance process improvement; complete assignments with limited direction utilizing expertise.
  • Provide day to day support to GTRI labs and units to trouble shoot and provide support for:
  • Accounting / Finance (Deltek Costpoint)
  • Time Recording (Deltek Time Capture)
  • Project Scheduling (Primavera )
  • Proposal Costing (Propricer)
  • Reporting (Cognos)
  • Other internal developed application eg. Research Property Tracking, Day to day support involves receiving trouble tickets, assigning work to junior team members or working to find solutions.
  • Meet with users to understand their business systems needs and to document requirements. Plan and schedule buy vs build analysis. Manage internal development or external procurement of solutions, through all stages of analysis, design, development, implementation and support for wide range of systems all focused around accounting/finance, project management, proposal production.
  • Plan and coordinate across all impacted departments upgrades , enhancements and bug fixes for all ESD supported applications.
  • This involves requirements gathering and scope setting, defining and agreeing the implementation timeline, and executing on the agreed project plan.
  • Business Process identification. Working with GTRI departments work to understand and document their business processes
  • Work to Client systems interface requirements, write specifications at a detailed table and column level for the interfaces. Working with the database administration systems team to develop and implement interfaces. Debug interface issues between systems.
  • Manage small to medium size projects from inception to completion.
  • Quality Assurance – working to ensure systems are fully and comprehensively tested prior to implementation/go live.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION, SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Degrees required for this job: Bachelor’s degree.
  • Degrees preferred: Accounting, Business or IT related field.
  • Years of experience required for this job: Five to seven years job related experience.
