Job description

Welcome to the Agentic Commerce Era
At Commerce, our mission is to empower businesses to innovate, grow, and thrive with our open, AI-driven commerce ecosystem. As the parent company of BigCommerce, Feedonomics, and Makeswift, we connect the tools and systems that power growth, enabling businesses to unlock the full potential of their data, deliver seamless and personalized experiences across every channel, and adapt swiftly to an ever-changing market. We believe in harnessing AI responsibly to unlock new possibilities, and we're looking for individuals who use it intentionally to solve problems, accelerate outcomes, and expand what's possible in their role. Our purpose is to help businesses confidently solve complex commerce challenges so they can build smarter, adapt faster, and grow on their own terms. If you want to be part of a team of bold builders, sharp thinkers, and technical trailblazers who shape the future of commerce, this is the place for you.
The Program Manager, Business Technology will serve as the operational backbone of the Business Technology organization, driving execution discipline, team communications, and knowledge continuity across a complex, high-growth SaaS environment. Reporting directly to the VP of Technology, this role is a critical force multiplier - ensuring the team's work is visible, coordinated, and consistently delivered.
This is a high-impact, high-visibility role for an operator who thrives in ambiguity, communicates with precision, and knows how to move people and programs forward without direct authority.
What You'll Do:
Operational Program Management
  • Maintain a consolidated view of active initiatives across Business Applications, Solutions Architecture, Data and Corporate IT
  • Translate program plans into clear milestones, deliverables, dependencies, and status updates that keep stakeholders informed and execution on track
  • Identify execution gaps and escalate blockers proactively, ensuring the visibility needed to make timely decisions
  • Drive quarterly planning, monthly prioritization and OKR tracking across the team
  • Develop and own a recurring communications cadence to keep C-suite stakeholders informed of Business Technology progress, milestones, and impact
  • Translate technical and operational work into business-relevant narratives for the C-suite

Contractor Governance & Workforce Planning
  • Track the delivery, capacity, and performance of 20+ contractors across multiple workstreams
  • Maintain a consolidated contractor roster with status, cost, scope, and renewal timelines
  • Partner with the leadership team to develop and execute a plan to right-size the contractor workforce - including sequencing wind-downs, managing transitions, etc
  • Serve as a point of escalation for contractor-related delivery issues

Knowledge Management & Architecture Documentation
  • Lead a structured effort to capture, document, and distribute systems architecture knowledge across the team
  • Organize and facilitate system review sessions, documentation deliverables, and recorded walkthroughs to reduce key-person risk

Who You Are:
  • 8+ years of experience in program management or business operations capacity - ideally within a SaaS, technology, or enterprise software environment
  • Solid communication skills - able to produce clear status updates, facilitate meetings, and present to stakeholders at the manager and director level.
  • Proven ability to manage complex, cross-functional programs with multiple workstreams and stakeholders
  • Experience working with or managing contractor/vendor workforces, including performance tracking and off-boarding
  • Comfort operating in ambiguous environments and making structured progress without waiting for perfect information
  • Familiarity with enterprise application ecosystems (CRM, marketing automation, finance systems, or data platforms)
  • High emotional intelligence and the ability to hold others accountable without direct authority
  • PMP, PgMP, or equivalent program management certification is a plus
  • Prior exposure to Salesforce, Marketo, Zuora, Gainsight, or Snowflake in a business technology or operations context
  • Background in management consulting or business operations at a SaaS company
  • Familiarity with SOX ITGC compliance environments
