Job description

Position Summary
FirstHealth of the Carolinas is a nationally recognized health care system located in central North Carolina. Comprised of four hospitals (Moore, Hoke, Richmond, and Montgomery) with more than 600 beds, the system also offers leading-edge heart care in the Reid Heart Center, the area's only dedicated heart and vascular center. As of March 2023, FirstHealth of the Carolinas officially opened its new comprehensive cancer center to patients. Our growing health system has more than 5,400 employees serving in more than 75 locations throughout a 15-county service area. In addition, the system provides home health and hospice services, emergency care, and medical transportation. Responsibilities
POC Testing Tech (MLT/MT) Job Summary
  • Works with Point of Care Testing (POCT) manager, POCT Technical Specialist, and hospital staff performing POCT to ensure policies and procedures for POCT are followed.
  • Conducts training and competency assessment for waived tests to ensure hospital staff are familiar with the pre-analytical and analytical procedures, maintenance and troubleshooting of the POCT equipment.
  • Assists with distribution of quality control materials, assists with correlation testing, and performs quality audits to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Familiar with CLIA, Joint Commission and CAP laboratory standards.
  • Assists with data collection for monitoring quality, and assists with special projects as needed and as directed by the POCT manager.

Qualifications
POC Testing Tech (MLT/MT) Qualifications
  • Associates of Science in Medical laboratory technology or related science from an accredited institution.
  • ASCP or AMT MLT certification preferred.
  • 1 year laboratory experience preferred.
  • Experience in POCT or other healthcare related setting i.e physician office lab setting will be considered.
  • Must have knowledge of laboratory CLIA, CAP and hospital regulatory requirements.
