Energy Light, LLC is a leading provider of lighting and pole solutions located in Lake Zurich, IL, serving commercial, municipal, and architectural markets. We pride ourselves on innovation, technical excellence, and delivering high-quality products to our customers.

We are seeking a Product Engineer to join our growing team. This role will be responsible for creating detailed product drawings, developing technical documentation, supporting sales and marketing with photometric and specification data, and ensuring our products meet design and structural requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain detailed product drawings, models, and specification sheets using SolidWorks.
  • Retrieve and organize technical data from vendors for integration into product designs and documentation.
  • Prepare and provide basic photometric data for the marketing and sales departments.
  • Understand and apply light pole design fundamentals, including structural analysis.
  • Perform pole loading and capacity calculations for specific wind zones and project requirements.
  • Assist in product development, testing, and compliance with industry standards.
  • Support the sales team by providing technical responses to customer inquiries.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, operations, and vendor partners.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks (required).
  • Strong understanding of structural mechanics and load analysis, particularly in light pole applications.
  • Familiarity with photometric principles and lighting performance fundamentals.
  • Strong technical documentation and drawing skills.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
  • IES membership or active participation in professional lighting/engineering organizations is a plus.

Preferred Experience

  • 2+ years of engineering experience in lighting, poles, structural products, or related industries.
  • Knowledge of wind load standards (ASCE 7 or equivalent).
  • Experience with vendor coordination and technical data management.
