POSITION SUMMARY

The Instructional Technology Associate is a collaborative role within Willamette University Information Technology (WITS) division, and is responsible for supporting and advancing the University's Learning Management System and broader instructional technology environment. This position partners closely with stakeholders to promote accessibility and best practices of academic technologies across online and hybrid learning environments. This role serves as a key resource for LMS support, and a collaborative resource for emerging educational technologies including responsible applications of artificial intelligence in teaching and learning. The position works closely with Academic Technology and campus partners to enhance the overall digital learning experience for students and faculty.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Learning Management System Support: Serve as a technical resource for the University's learningmanagement system (Canvas), supporting course delivery and effective use of LMS features andintegrations.

  • LMS End User Support: Serve as primary triage and escalation for all support requests related tolearning management and related systems.

  • Academic Technology Support: Support instructional technologies used in course delivery and academicengagement (including AI-enabled tools and LTI's in our Learning Management System).

  • Collaboration and Coordination: Collaborate with Academic Technology, WITS teams, faculty andcampus stakeholders to support optimization of the Learning Management System.

  • Accessibility and Usability: Support accessibility best practices and promote inclusive design principleswithin digital learning environments.

  • Assist with projects as delegated related to documentation and support resources to strengtheninstitutional use of instructional technologies.

  • Additional Duties: Perform other related duties as assigned in support of evolving academic technologyand instructional needs.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum: Bachelor's degree preferred in a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

Preferred

  • Experience supporting learning management systems such as Canvas or similar platforms.

  • Experience supporting instructional technology within higher education or a comparable environment.

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills with the ability to translate technical concepts into practical guidance.

  • Strong organizational and project coordination skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.

  • Understanding of accessibility and usability best practices within digital learning environments.

  • Interest in emerging educational technologies, including responsible applications of artificial intelligence in higher education.

Typical Work Schedule: Part-time, 20 hours per week. Schedule is flexible but must provide regular availability between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, based on departmental needs.

Physical Demands & Working Conditions: Ability to perform work in a standard office environment, including prolonged periods of sitting and computer use. Must be able to occasionally move equipment weighing up to 25 pounds and travel between campus locations as needed.

Salary: $40-45/hour, depending on experience
