The IT Associate Data Analyst partners with Customer-facing business teams and IT delivery teams to unlock business insights through trusted, well-mapped, and well-understood data. Serving as a liaison between the business and IT, this role develops a strong working knowledge of Eversource Customer data ecosystem (Customer data products, Enterprise Data Platform (EDP) availability, and how data supports day-to-day business processes) and works closely with business partners to anticipate needs and translate business questions into clear data requirements, mapping logic, and testable acceptance criteria. The analyst is hands-on with data performing analysis, documenting data mappings/relationships and business rules, executing data testing and reconciliation from source through EDP and downstream consumption, and technically investigating data issues to drive resolution with engineering and application teams. The role also collaborates with Domain, Solution, and Enterprise IT Architects and delivery teams to define functional and technical requirements, evaluate workflow/process improvements, explore conceptual solution design options, and play a key role throughout the application lifecycle for small and large development efforts.

Essential Functions:

  • Partner with business and technology stakeholders to understand objectives, processes, and decision needs; translate them into clear analytical and data requirements.
  • Elicit, document, and manage functional requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria aligned to data products and Enterprise Data Platform (EDP) strategy.
  • Develop and maintain source-to-target data mappings, business rules, and data relationship/lineage documentation; ensure end-to-end traceability from requirements through business signoff.
  • Execute data validation and reconciliation (source-to-target, transformation logic, completeness, exception analysis) and support UAT/defect triage and regression checks as needed.
  • Investigate and triage data issues; isolate root cause and coordinate resolution with architects, data engineers, application owners, and delivery teams.
  • Lead and facilitate business/IT meetings; conduct workflow/process analysis, identify improvement opportunities, and support solution design, development, and implementation.
  • Support agile delivery by preparing/refining backlogs (epics/features/stories) and partnering with product owners and teams on prioritization, sprint planning, and grooming.
  • Develop business cases, estimates, and value tracking to support investment decisions; present as needed to governance groups (e.g., PMO/Finance/BPC).
  • Create and maintain enablement materials (definitions, dataset usage guidance, FAQs, job aids/training) to promote consistent, responsible self-service use of Domain data.
  • Support vendor/procurement activities (RFP/RFI) and contribute to statements of work when applicable.

Technical Knowledge/Skill/Education/Licenses/Certifications:

  • Perform hands-on data analysis (profiling, trends/outliers, reconciliation) to support insights and troubleshoot data quality issues.
  • Create and validate source-to-target mappings, business rules, and lineage/relationship documentation (Source EDP downstream consumption).
  • Execute data validation and testing (source-to-target checks, transformation logic verification, completeness/exception analysis) and support UAT/defect triage.
  • Use SQL (or equivalent querying) and Excel to validate data, reconcile results, and produce repeatable analysis.
  • Understand data flows and integration concepts (pipelines, latency, transformations) and how upstream changes impact downstream reporting.
  • Triage data issues with technical evidence, isolate likely root cause (source anomaly vs. mapping/transformation vs. timing/integration), and coordinate resolution with engineering and application teams.
  • Communicate findings clearly to technical and non-technical audiences; facilitate discussions to align on definitions, assumptions, and next steps.
  • Comfortable working in agile delivery teams and using common tools (e.g., Jira/Azure DevOps) to manage requirements, testing artifacts, and issues.
