Job Description

Job Summary: The Group Leader is responsible for leading a scientific team within a contract research laboratory environment, ensuring the successful execution of client studies in compliance with regulatory standards (e.g. GMP). This role combines technical expertise, people leadership, and operational oversight to deliver high-quality, timely, and compliant results to clients.

Responsibilities include:

  • Supervise daily laboratory activities and laboratory scheduling to ensure optimum group performance.
  • Provides guidance, support, direction and leadership to technicians and analysts through positive interactions with all personnel during daily operations.
  • Responsible for study execution and completion.
  • Coordinates work projects to appropriately prioritize laboratory workload to meet client requirements as related to quality, on-time performance and TAT (Turnaround Time).
  • Coordinates the scheduling of personnel to maximize productivity.
  • Maintains quality performance metrics, conducts routine metrics review and root cause analysis in collaboration with analysts and laboratory management.
  • Coordinates and communicates delays and technical issues with management in a timely manner.
  • Devises and develops processes and methods for the solution of technical problems.
  • Interfaces with client to communicate study progress.
  • Trains, mentors and supervises analysts.
  • Reviews lab investigations and deviations with analysts/microbiologists.
  • Conducts root cause analysis and implements solutions in collaboration with the analysts.
  • Performs statistical analysis of data and evaluates the area supervised for assay trends and responds appropriately.
Qualifications
  • BSc in Cell & Molecular Biology or Biochemistry.
  • 5+ years of relevant laboratory experience, preferably in a CRO or regulated environment.
  • Prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred.

Position is full-time position, Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5pm with flexibility. Candidates currently living within a commutable distance of St. Louis, MO are encouraged to apply.
