Sewing and Fashion Design Instructor

Job description:

MUST BE LOCATED within Prince Georgeโ€™s County area, Beltsville, MD, AND HAVE EXPERIENCE WITH SCHOOL-AGE YOUTH. A Sewing & Fashion Design instructor is needed to teach students ranging from K-8 during the 2026-2027 School Year. Sewing & Fashion Design; open to various Sewing & Fashion Design techniques. This position is for in-person instruction. Pay ranges from $50.00-$60.00 depending on experience, and Classes are in two 8-week sessions. Also, may have multiple contracts at multiple sites.

Sewing & Fashion Design teacher needed to teach the basics of sewing and fashion design. A material budget will be provided, and 2+ sewing machines will be available depending on studentsโ€™ ability.

Major Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement an arts program that enables youth to develop their creativity.

  • Implement goals, objectives, policies, procedures, and work standards for assigned programs.
  • Exercise independent judgment and initiative within general policy guidelines.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
  • Contribute to programs, activities, and services that prepare youth for success.
  • Contribute to creating a team environment that facilitates the achievement of youth development outcomes.
  • Contribute to ensuring a healthy and safe environment.

Education, Experience, and Skills:

  • High School diploma
  • Ability to obtain a clear background check within the agencyโ€™s timeline.
  • A minimum of one year of experience working with creative and visual art programs.
  • Use of equipment and tools related to work.
  • Principles related to the development of youth.
  • Group leadership skills and understanding of group dynamics.
