Job description

Company Description The School for Young Performers (SYP) is a WASC-accredited K–12 private school that has provided bespoke education for over 30 years. Founded in 1995, SYP was created for students who balance academics with careers in the performing arts, athletics, or other demanding pursuits, and has since grown to serve learners with diverse needs and preferences. The school is dedicated to one-on-one, personalized instruction for students whose lifestyles, professions, or learning styles do not fit traditional classroom settings. SYP emphasizes individualized learning pathways, high-quality teaching, and academic rigor without requiring families to compromise on their children’s aspirations. The school offers flexible virtual, in-person, and hybrid options tailored to each student.


The School for Young Performers is looking for an elementary school teacher for a full-time 1st Grade position overseas. The educators will teach 1:1 in innovative, creative and fluid classroom constructs. The family will be providing airfare, lodging, transportation, etc. There is also additional international travel. Teachers will be flown home for long holiday breaks, but do not apply if you cannot travel for extensive periods of time (you will be abroad 85-90% of the school year). Candidates must also have a valid US or UK passport. Preference will be given to teachers that have taught overseas and speak more than one language. Start date is September 2026, and there is a competitive annual salary.


Ideal candidates must have the following:

- A MINIMUM of 5 years experience teaching Kindergarten to Grade 2, preferably in a private school setting

-Teaching certification, preferably K-5

-Fluent in English (this is a MUST)

-Literacy specialization, preferably with training in Orton Gillingham and/or Wilson, and experience working with English Language Learners; familiarity with the British phonics system is a huge plus.

-Understanding of accelerated/gifted/differentiated learning and PBL

-Conscientious, patient, compassionate, flexible and professional

-Strong handle on keeping pace with curriculum, comfortable with creating lesson plans, assessments, projects and tests

-Can easily go back and forth between different subjects with a symbiotic emphasis

-Experience working 1-on-1, small group classes or in homeschool constructs

-SEL/Mindfulness training

-Familiarity with Singapore math is strongly preferred; additional familiarity with the British education system and/or IB a plus

-Ability to create interdisciplinary activities (i.e. competitive task work, STEAM projects, geography deep dives)

- Have a personal computer with email/MS Office AND a cell phone with access to email

- valid US or UK passport

-PLUS: working knowledge/ability in French, Spanish, and/or German
